used to love my legs

I used to love my legs. Even growing up overweight. At one time,I weighed 250 lbs. but my legs were always thin and muscular. I even got comments from others that I had a good stride and walked with purpose. Now I despise them they are the greatest cause of pain and embarrassment. With peripheral Neuropathy they hurt 24/7. The burning, tingling sensations are ever present. Those you learn to live with. The "stingers" as u call them are unbearable. They appear with no warning like bees stinging my toes and legs. I look like a fool stomping them to try and stop the pain. It rarely works,but I try anyway. Anyone else experience this? Any suggestions? the embarrassment I feel is from the sores and scars. With the decreased feeling I am constantly bumping into things, creating wounds. And they take forever to heal, leaving dark ugly scars. I have a large one that i got from sitting next to a space heater, resulting in 3rd degree burns. I mean who doesnt realize their skin is melting? i have tried mederma and other such products with no results. Anyone have good results with any scar products. Would appreciate any help. …ok!…just heard back from my daughter, and this is what she wrote,….now remember she is an esthetician, and works for the top skin Dr here in Wichita KS.

My daughter wrote: "Dad!….Legs are hard to treat because they don't heal well. We suggest doing microdermabrasion and using Glytone body lotion on them but it will just take time and exfoliation to heal." …end of quote:

I hope this helps, and may give you something to consider in your search. I really think that you may need to seek out a skin care Dr who deals with this on a daily basis.

Hey Leslie, just a thought, I know this sounds strange coming from a man, but there was a time when I weighed 400lbs, and now I'm 160lbs soaking wet. Needless to say, I've had a little bit of a battle with stretch marks, women seem to expect all guys from California to have perfect tans (personally I just fry and don't tan), rock hard abs, and thunder-busting biceps. I got a few of those things in my quest for better health over the years, but will never take my shirt off until me and a plastic surgeon get well acquainted.

Anyways, I asked a lot of people what would be good for unwanted scarring, and I've been consistently referred to cocoa butter. I have also been told many times to do the microderm abrasion stuff, but that's too expensive for me, but cocoa butter really helped a lot. Still visible, but not a total eye sore like before. Hope that helps. And don't be too hard on yourself, I'm sure you still have very nice legs, they just decided they didn't like tables that much. And also consider that people are far less shallow then we tend to give them credit for, but if you're like me, you're your own worst critic lol.
