I would contact the Dr. you met at the hospital last week and ask them if there is anything else on your end that you need to do before they schedule surgery...or are you waiting for them to tell you the date.
I don't think I would inquire about
a pain clinic right now because I would assume your Drs. feel that the surgery will help things and then move you forward afterwards without medication with just a plan for diet, exercise, fluid intake, and all the other ways to help prevent stones from happening.
I would only pursue the pain clinic if it's a month or more out from your surgery and things are somehow worse and the surgeon recommends that he can't do anymore...That is usually when someone moves into pain management.
Surgery is your big next step now..I would think that if it's coming up soon...then your GP will be ok prescribing the medication for you until then..
Asking about a pain clinic now may seem like you are just looking for them to prescribe opiates.
