Hello again Charlotte...and thank you for the reply back!
...you may be correct in that in your case the Suboxone may not be for you,...I just wanted to let members know that it is used for pain control. Is it the best route to go?....well it would be last on my list. I don't think it is a good long term med for pain control...but again I know some that are using it this way and doing well on it.
I think in your case I would want to hear why they want to try this med...and at this point I do not know what all you have been scripted for pain relief. There are a lot of options out there, but that does not mean that you will have luck with most of them either.
I am on 15mg Oxycodone, 8 per day, 4mg Tizanadine, 2-3 at bedtime and 75mg Elavil at bedtime. The Tizanadine is the only reason I sleep. Otherwise I am up with spasms in my back and legs all night. Elavil is for migraine prevention but combined with the Tizanadine I am able to sleep a full 7-8 hours. I am certainly willing to try new medications but the Suboxone didn't seem to be one that my Hematologist wanted me on and I was also cautioned about
this by others who are familiar with it.
I also have a script
for Imetrix, if a migraine comes on. I give myself an injection. The good news is, my migraines have significantly decreased since my hysterectomy in Dec 08. I used to get them once a month and they were so bad I ended up in the ER. They are pretty managed right now.

Living with chronic pain presents a lot of problems these days...and Dr's under pressure to pull back on scripts is one of them....and then there is dependency ...tollerance..and meds that do not work at all. Not only do we live with pain...but we are under worry and fear as well.
Indeed! Drs. are nervous about
writing script
s. I am just surprised my PCP won't write them for me until I can find another Dr. because she knows I am not a problem. I saw my records and nothing indicated an issue. It makes no sense.

Keep looking, ...and see if you can get a straight answer as to why they are wanting you on this med.
I learned that this clinic only offers Suboxone at their clinic and nothing else. My PCP told me this was the only pain clinic she knew to refer me to but didn't know that they had no other options for treatment.

...and it has been a long hard week for me..and I'm still trying to get over this cold...which has dropped down into my chest...and seems like it wants to make a home there. LOL
Colds are the worst! I haven't had one in a very long time. I have become kind of obsessed with touching things. When I am not home I
open doors with my sleeve, instead of my hands. I have even used tissues or napkins to
open doors. My husband laughs at me but then he started doing it, too. LOL! Hey - I haven't had a cold in quite some time, so I must be doing something right!

Good luck!
Thank you! I am hoping someone who lives here will pipe in but I am continuing my search to find someone, even if it is a new PCP.
