Sorry you are so sick. You do need antibiotics and fast.
If you have not gone to the doctor yet, there are a couple of home remedies that will help until you can. Honey is a natural antibiotic. So is Garlic. Also, apple cider vinegar can re-establish the ph balance needed in your throat for quick healing. Then we will address your fever.
Here is the process.
Honey first...
Take two cups of sugar and add a whole jar of honey. Put it on the stove and let it boil until all of the sugar has dissolved. While it is boiling, take a deep plate and either cover it with margarine or spray it with Pam. Once the mixture has boiled for a few minutes, pour it into the plate and place the plate in the freezer. Once it is completely cool, pry it off of the plate and put it into a zip lock bag. Then take all your frustrations out on it by beating it into smaller pieces with a hammer. Sucking on these honey chips will not only soothe your throat, but will also get a natural antibiotic into your system. I encourage you to suck on them until they are gone if you do not have problems with sugar. The sugar is needed in order to make the honey into a solid. The more you suck the better...I know that sounds weird, but it's true.
If you like garlic and have a few cloves of fresh garlic in your fridge or can send someone out for a whole one, butter the outsides and roast it for about 45 minutes on 325. This will make it soft like a spread...easy to swallow. I know the scent may offend others, but it has great antimicrobial properties.
Now, onto reclaiming your ph balance...
Gargling and even holding warm salt water in your mouth will help a ton with pain and even start the healing process, but you have blisters that are flourishing like a garden back there. For many, apple cider vinegar is too strong to swallow (I love what it does and take a tablespoon every day, despite the taste, because it is great for my acid reflux), but if you have it in your cupboard, brace yourself, then take a swig and hold it in the back of your throat for as long as you can and then spit if you cannot swallow it. If it doesn't burn, do it again. It is best if it is at room temperature. You don't want to eat or drink anything else for about 15 minutes in order for it to neutralize the unbalanced ph in the back of your throat. You will probably find that afterward you may even have a relaxed sensation in the muscles in the back of your throat that have been over stressed by trying to not move because of the pain.
Lastly, if you still have a fever...
The quickest way to bring a fever down is to lower the temperature of the blood. You could always take a cold shower, but that will leave you with chills and I just don't think that is a great idea. However, I am new here and everyone is calling you Matt, so Matt, if you have any frozen peas, corn, potatoes, whatever, in your freezer, get them out and place them on your groin area. You have major artery flow near this area and it will cool your blood down quickly and safely. Make sure that you are focusing the coolest areas of the frozen product on the crease between the leg and groin on both sides.
Then, as soon as you can, GET TO THE DOCTOR. Strep is nothing to mess with.
It would be a good idea to write these remedies down, especially with children, so you will have them on hand in a pinch. Might even be a good idea to keep some of the broken honey on a regular basis for quick help. You can also add peppermint oil from the spice section of your grocery store to open up swollen nasal passages, if you wish. Do not confuse the spice with the scented oil. You definitely want to make sure you are using peppermint extract. With the odd weather that we have been experiencing as a nation, home remedies may become important, valuable knowledge.
I hope that this has been a help to you or even someone else. Feel better soon!
