Hello,

Dont know if this is serious or nothing so wondering what people think.

I have been getting this weird pain in my side. On my right side, lower rib cage. Its just mild, sort of comes on like a wave that lasts a second.

The weird part is the same pain happens at the same time on my right leg, outside of my shin at the same time.

This may happen a 3-5 times in a day.

Weird, any ideas?

Perphaps you should call your pcp and push for mri annd possible get your heart checked out to rule out heart problems. Dont know what things you've had done yet, but call your primary care physician (pcp) and get this checked out. Hope your doing better soon.

I agree that making an appt. to go see your Primary Care Dr. is a good place to start. No one here is a medical professional so there is no way for us to say if there is anything wrong...

We are certainly here for support and empathy...so please feel free to stick around and let us know what the Dr. says..

Yeah, no medical professionals here, just people who have been under doctor's care for a long time, usually.

See a doctor, or call a nurse line or something like that if it's available in your area. If you are having trouble breathing, or you feel that it's an emergency, call emergency services.

Hi peter, welcome to the forum, I'm not a doctor, but I suggest you see one. This could be several thousand different things going on, there are many major organs in your abdomen that can present what they call fantom pains in areas other than where they are located. It could be something simple, it might be the first symptom of a major problem, we just dont know. Good luck, and I hope you're able to get this taken care of.

What they said ( the above posters ) and it is strange that your leg feels the same pain, maybe its a muscle being pulled or something?

Now I'm curious - but if you are really concerned about it, go to a doctor -

How long has this been happening?
Did you start doing something different right before it started (work, diet, change locations)?
Are you doing anything specific when this happens?
Just before or after eating or drinking anything?
Anyone else around you complain of something like this?
Only organs located in the upper right quadrant are part of the stomach, the transverse colon or maybe the diaphragm, liver and gall bladder, none of which (as far as I know) share any nerve pathways to the lower leg... Maybe an intercostal muscle...
Any recent surgeries or injuries?

I'm just kicking the tires here. Again, I am not a doctor. I've just read my mom's Gray's Anatomy a bunch of times.

Livingcolor, what worries me is that liver function problems can cause some circulation issues, which can result in leg pain, but the OP could also be experiencing signs of dehydration, why I think the OP really needs to see a doctor, there are many things that could possibly link the two, many of which could be quickly ruled out with some blood tests. Just my opinion.

not that i should butt-in, but with liver problems, don't you usually see yellowing of the eyes or some sort of change in skin color?

Ookla, what you're referring to is jaundice, a symptom of full liver failure. Yes, it can happen, but usually if the person is in immediate need of a liver transplant. I'm not trying to diagnose the OP, only to give him the idea that things could be wrong, and there are many problems that could occur and cause pain. I was merely stating one of the hundreds of possibilities. I'm sure if the OP was jaundice, he'd be on his way to a hospital, if he wasn't there already.

Absolutely correct about liver functions and jaundice. Although, depending on the person, liver function does not have to reach that critical a level for the yellowing to show up.

Like I said, I wasn't trying to diagnose him, really. Just trying to figure out how those two pains could be related. And to have him think about the answers to those questions since that's what a doctor would ask him anyway.

Hi, thankx for all the replys.

Ill try to anser some of the questions.

It has been happening for the last few month, maybe more. It mainly happens when im sat infront of my computer at work. I quite an active person, Gym, Running, cycing, and swiming at least 5 times a week.

I havnt done anything about it yet because it wont happen for a week then randomly do it a day or two.
my skins not yellow, nor my eyes, it can be before or after food, no recent injuries.

It doesnt effect my breathing, or anything, no aches or pain to touch.

hrmmmm... The only thing I can think of leads me to think you should get to a doctor as soon as you can and get some proper tests run. CBC and liver functions at a minimum. Unless its a rare combination of 2 sets of pulled muscles which decide to spasm at exactly the same time, but even that's really weird, since the spasms have to be set off by something.

Yeah, I'll join the chorus, get it checked out. This is one of those quirky things that don't make sense, and hopefully your doctor can make some sense out of it, and advise you on a proper course of action. If your doc blows this off, get a 2nd opinion.
