Hi Laura
Thanks for the advice. I visit the forum when I can type although it's very slow. Yes, it sounds like the surgery option isn't really a choice I should make. The surgeon himself said he would look for solutions with the pain clinic that I start on Wednesday. His intentions are to remove one screw and two pins but leave the plates in my arm. There's ulnar nerve damage at that point which sounds similar to your friend's. He said they would transpose the nerve, that was also done in the accident surgery.
I did wear a custom-made splint for several months but it's done it's maximum. It pulled my fingers down. Also, I used a thumb split that pulled my thumb out. They both worked a bit: I can bend my knuckles a bit at the thumb, pointer and middle finger at the middle joint but my baby and ring finger won't move and my hand knuckles are seized up. My fingers have clubbed and deformed, sound familiar. I don't have good circulation in my hand either. I think that's why it is always cold. I've been dipping it in paraffin wax:). It might give you some relief it your foot if you haven't tried.
I can't imagine the pain in your foot and legs. I can't even work with my condition right now and am going crazy. I've always been a doer. Worked in advertising, ran my own business, gardened, decorated, etc. My friends always told me I was Martha Stewart and a type A personality. Now I have to take it slow and day by day. Not by choice as I'm sure you understand. Mentally, this has been my biggest challenge. Like your foot, your arms and hands are a team. It's challenging to do every day things. What helps increase circulation?
Thank you again Laura for your support. I will message you my email. Great people on this forum and I don't feel so alone. You have given some good food for thought and suggestions for the pain clinic
Hope you have a low-pain day too.
