Low back/sciatica and incontinence

I dunno what else to do here. I called the Drs office yesterday, just to see if they had scheduled me to be seen at least for my refills which run out on Feb 5th, and I won't be scheduled until sometime after the 15th, when they schedule the new block of appointments. So do I end up in the ER again, just to get meds to get by so I can get my scrips on my regular appt?

Was told over the phone that the doc wanted to see me before changing my meds. Now that's a positive move if he's changing meds, but I'm supposed to go without until? My job now is to call the office 3x per day until I get some motion on that.

Time for me to be the rock in someone's shoe. I got nothing else to do.

And Pete, you explained it better than I could. It is the changing of positions causing the pain which causes the loss of control, most of the time. But it sometimes happens without pain. If I go from a seated but leaning forward position, like how I'm typing now, to leaning back in the chair, which really does not cause much pain, it can at least partially happen then as well.

LC....Thankfully they have ruled out CES for you though....so that is at least one good thing to know you don't need any surgery for this.

I would think they would be ok with you running by to pick up any of the ones that are due as you can tell them you spoke directly to the Dr. on the 17th and he told you that he would get you the prescriptions before your next appt...

And I'm sure you know from your experiences working around Drs...but I try to always to bypass anyone in reception when needing meds and go straight to the Doctors NP or PA....

It's definitely hard when the Drs. are trying to run all the tests they can and going step by step to try and figure out what is going on as it can take time...

I think they have ruled it out. I just don't know. I'm completely in the dark here. Today is supposed to be 77 and partly cloudy. about as good as it gets, weatherwise, and a helluva lot better than some of the country is seeing. But it took me 20 minutes to figure out how to roll out of bed this morning. Thank goodness I had the Depends on. It would have taken 20 minutes if the bed was on fire. And if I hadn't have been proactive and started taking Metamucil every morning, I think I would be having problems there too.

My check isn't making it to the end of the month with all of these new expenses, and I'm barely moving today. Called the doc's office back this morning and begged to be worked into the schedule, they said they would call me back. rrrrrrrrrrr I think if I had some relief, I could probably cut my psych med bills in half. But the Tramadol might as well be sugarless gum. I've noticed nothing from it. I tried skipping it and the flexeril for 5 days, (mostly to try to stretch the scrip) and I can't justify paying that money ($70 just for them), with no benefit. I literally felt no difference.

I'm just at my wit's end here. I'm trying to do everything right, play by the rules, be smart, be knowledgeable when I go in for an appt, write everything down, be open to interpretations and suggestions..... but I'm not stupid.

But if I told the doc what was really on my mind, I'd probably get a 72 hour psych hold, and I know for a fact that they don't give a darn about pain in there. Been there. That's why I see my own psych now. (Not that I'd actually do that, nobody panic, I promised my mom that if I had anything to say about it, she would never have to go through that with me. She understands traffic accidents, etc, but I would not do that to her on purpose. And as a southern gentleman, I don't lie to my momma.)

But the wit's end has been reached, and I don't know what else to do at this point. I'm out of ideas. I still don't even know what my official diagnosis, if I have one, is. I'm waiting for some guy to jump out with a seltzer bottle to finish the gag.

LC..Just a FYI on the meds......not sure why you are paying so much for the Tramadol and Flexeril...

The Flexeril is only $8 for 60 pills at Walmart and Tramadol should be very cheap as well. I only pay $56 for 270 pills as my dog takes them. They are the 50mg ones and he takes three a day and I buy a 3 month supply.

So..not sure why you are paying so much when they aren't that expensive. All you have to do is call around and most places will match the price if for some odd reason you dont' have a Walmart near you.

Just in case you do need to buy either of them again. As I've said..I truly understand what it's like to have a lot of health issues, chronic pain, and no health insurance. It takes more time and effort to get to Drs. and try meds as we are going to be more limited.

Again, if things are so bad that you are actually having to wear the Depends every day and can't control any of your bodily functions...this warrants a trip to the ER to have them figure out what is going on..With the MRIs done they can now check for other things.
