I was just wondering if having a fast metabolisim would make your medication go through your system quicker. Like, would you need to take it more often than recomended?
I'm on Oxycontin, they say you only have to take it every 12 hours, but from the day I started on it, I had my pain back about 6 hours later. After being on it since 2001, I need to take it again every 5 hours
or I'm in pain & withdrawals are starting.
My new doctor asked if I wanted the old Oxycontin or the new one, called Targin, which supposedly has something to stop constipation in it, so I said I'd have the Targin. Then, I found that it had Naloxone in it, so it was made, not to stop constipation, but to stop people abusing it.
When I took it, swallowing it whole like you're supposed to, I went into withdrawals & it didn't stop my pain. My partner (who is also on Oxycontin) tried them also, but they worked fine for him. He is overweight, but eats healthy meals, where as I am quite skinny & eat jelly doughnuts only, for the whole day, or anything I can quickly through in the microwave. I can't stand too long to cook a propper meal beacuse of the pain. I'm having a hard time putting weight on because of my fast metabolisim.
When I told my new doctor that I wanted to go back on the old Oxycontin as the Targin caused me to go into withdrawals, he told me he was going to detox me. I couldn't work out why the Targin were blocking the receptors in my brain when they're are only supposed to reach the receptors in your gut, when they're used properly. Then, I suddenly thought that maybe with a fast metabolism, they are able to get to the brain receptors. Could anyone please tell me if this could be right ?
