hello everyone, i hope everyone is able to control to at least be comfortable tonight.

i was wondering if anyone here has been through menopause? im having problems with the irritability part,weight gain, hot flashes and severe pain to boot.

im used to the pain and i can control my temper when im hurting most of the time. i think its just the hot flashes that are really getting to me. i am 43 and i started menopause at the age of 37.

i know that the fentanyl causes the sweats. i have always dealt with that. now hot flashes too. does anyone know of anything that helps this or should i just go to my doc.? i am really miserable and kinda feeling sad because of it.

any words of wisdom are welcome... thanks janet

I think you should talk to your doc. Your doc would be the one who can tell you whether or not you're a candidate for hormone replacement therapy. If not then there could be other ways to manage the symptoms.

Welcome to the wonderful world of menopause.

I wondered if I had not been put on the prem-pro if I actually had it in me to do serious damage to someone. I mean I was mean!!

The hot flashes,soaking wet,the entire bed every night and sometimes twice.. Too cold and wet then to want to get up.

I was not a nice person. I did go on medicine and 6 years later still use hrt as I like you were thrown into early menopause by a partial hysterectomy.

At 55 it's alot better then 48 but some residual effects still linger and I am almost weaned off of the hormones.

See your Dr,your gyn usually is best for this. Their are some very good otc herbal meds that seem to work well for some folks too.

Welcome to the wonderful world of menopause, lol. It can be awful for some, or others are not bothered much by it. I was not that lucky. I went to the dr and was put on HRT and after several ones, finally found the right one for me. Yes, you do have to find the right one. My drs after being on them for many years took me off of them. I had a friend tell me about an OTC product called Estrovent I believe was the name. I took that for the hot waves and it helped. This is sold at Walmart & drugstores and they have several different ones to pick from depends on your symptoms.

I called the hot flashes heat waves because it felt like the heat started at my feet and came up like a wave. I do hope you can get some help.

I have a really- really stupid question for those of you who have experienced menopause, If i may. I read that "officially" menopause can be declared by no mensuration for at least one complete year. I haven't had one for about 15 years due to being on Depo (could be longer, but I don't remember the exact year I started on it). Anyway, i get hot flashes, shoot i get hot flashes, cold flashes, night sweats, etc. And i get REAL REAL moody when I'm due to have my next shot. Is it possible that I am in menopause? (BTW, I'm 39). (Oh, I also have thyroid problems, but am on synthyroid for it)

You will find it can be one of those issues where drs will not always agree, but age is not just one issues, per my dr. I started having symptoms at 32 and my dr said its one of those things some drs reserve it for the ladies in their late 40's and thats not true. Go see your dr about the issues you are having.

Sorry, I guess i should have said, out of curiosity, They don't bother me too much, I dress in layers so I can add or remove as necessary. I was just asking since the "M" subject was brought up. Sorry Janet, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. I hope you get to feeling better. 8-)

LOL... No problem Alsoinpain.. Im just thankful for the responses. I was actually put on hormone replacement. I was all excited because I had been dealing with hotflashes since age 38, so about five years. I was put on the hormone patch because the doc said since i was on the fentanyl patch then why not have another patch as opposed to pills.

I was thrilled, NO MORE HOTFLASHES!!!!! YAH. Ok, I was doing really good and felt awesome. Then I felt something strange one day, something i hadnt felt in a good six years. So, I went to the restroom and sure enough there it was..... It never dawned on me that if they straighten out your hormone levels that you start back having menstrual cycles again.LOL

Maybe I am a little naive im not sure. All i was thinking at that time was... OH ---- NO!!!! I go through enough pain everyday without dealing with cramps too. On top of that, alot of times the kids have to come help me in the bathroom. Sometimes i have to have assistance in the shower too. I decided i didnt wanna go there..LOL

Needless to say the hormone patch was history and i decided to suffer with the hotflashes. That was until now. As of two weeks ago they are alot more frequent and so much more intense. Plus, the fentanyl patches are known for that side effect also( sweats i mean).

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a low dose hormone replacement that does not cause monthly bleeding?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am not very educated on this subject as every female in my family had hysterectomies at a young age. I kinda dont wanna make a fool of myself when i go back the doc. LOL Thanks, Janet
