Starting to get things put together for surgery.

As some might recall last fall I told of quite possibly have bypass surgery late this spring or early summer. It is not heart surgery but rather bypassing severely blocked arteries in my legs.

This coming Thurs I am having the testing done that the surgeon I have chosen wants done prior to surgery. Going to be having an arterial doppler done on both legs. Then I will be meeting with the doctor on the 17th to go over everything and most likely schedule the first of the two surgeries which will happen sometime after the 23rd as that is my kid's last day of school.

Now that it is getting close I am getting both nervous and excited. Excited because I am hoping that the surgeries will reduce or eliminate the worst source of leg pain I have and I can once again walk more than 10 feet on uneven surfaces without being in agony, or more than 100 feet on flat level ground with the same results.

Had the tests done today the surgeon wanted before meeting him. Had an ultrasound, arterial doplar, and the "blood pressure" test done on both legs which I think is part of the doplar test.

Had these exact tests done right at a year ago, but I can understand and do agree with getting fresh data prior to going into surgery.

Funny thing about when they do the blood pressure portion of the test I end up with the unintended but welcome side effect of a reduction in pain in my legs. Happened last year and again today. Last year the pain reduction last a week and a half to two weeks. Be nice if it last that long this time around. I mentioned this to the tech today and she said that a lot of people with pain from blockages in their arms or legs have reported the same thing to her.
