How long should it take for forehead nerve block to take effect?

I got a supra-orbital nerve block Tuesday. Maybe it's just the bruise, but the block doesn't seem to be doing much. Thursday was great, but the headache's back today, although much less.

I've had the headache for 4 years, since a hard blow from an airbag caused a cut when it hit my sunglasses and broke my nose. I've seen an ENT for what seemed to be chronic sinus infections, tried all sorts of antibiotics, steroid sinus washes, allergy nasal sprays, even sinus surgery. I was sent to a neurologist twice, and finally he told me he couldn't help me.

Now my pain doc is doing nerve blocks on my forehead for the over-the-eye nerve. He was carefully locating the nerve with sonogram, which I thought was cool. If it works I'll get an ablation. Strangely, when the injection began I had a very strong spasm in the muscles in my ribs - the ones that were broken and still are slipping. If I hadn't been holding very still so he wouldn't damage the nerve I would have screamed and jumped off the table. I don't understand how ribs and eye nerves are connected.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you Alcie that like most blocks it takes a few days to start working.

I'm a migraine sufferer whose not had one in years thanks to HRT and understand certainly how headaches effect your life.

As for nerve paths? They're so finely and tightly woven that what your saying is a possibility. They could very well cross at some junction.

The forehead bruise is even blacker than yesterday. It doesn't seem to hurt as much though.

I don't know if a headache caused by a hard blow is a migraine or not. No auras, no nausea. It just never stops. I'm not sure if the pain is enough for a migraine. Tramadol keeps it to a tolerable level. The bridge of my nose hurts too. It's hard to wear my reading glasses.
