Very frustrated

I thought I would give an update. I finally called Thursday (which I had been calling Monday thru Friday) and the doctor had finally sent my scripts to the pharmacy after over two weeks of me begging.

I called the pharmacy yesterday,and they hadn't received them, so I called again today. You all are not going to believe this, because I couldn't. I said you're kidding. (Michael can't believe it either). The doctor sent prescriptions dated March 20. Almost 2 months old. Isn't that crazy? Obviously, they can't fill them, because they're so old. I really don't know what to think. I am so angry!!!!!

I told them I would be calling the doctor Monday about this, but I'm thinking about getting them to call her office. Maybe they can get her to move more quickly than I can.

I'm ready to give up, and just suffer. I hope you all are having as good a night as possible. Take care.

Loretta, that's the most ridiculous thing I've seen. Something is very wrong with a Drs office that is managed this way.

That script obviously passed more then just the Drs hands as I am assuming she didnt write it,sign it,and mail it herself. Top that off they are required to keep a copy so it was handled at that point as well.

Not one of them noticed it was dated wrong? A Dr whom writes the current date on numerous documents and charts a day gets the date wrong by months? I would not want them in charge of my life and health.

They have blatantly allowed you to suffer for over 2weeks!! Somehow I would find a way to get there and get a script and during the month be looking for another Dr to care for me.

I know you have issues making all that difficult but if you don't find a better way this will happen again and I'm still thinking this office has some serious organizational problems that you can't make them fix and can't afford to hope they change and wait it out.

Please don't let them get you down and give up to suffer. Call a church or friend or someone to get you there to pick them up.

Actually the CSA title 21 chapter 21-28 says 90 days.

The catch to that is each state has their own regulations in place and many like Delaware only allow 7days and it varies greatly from state to state.

I'm guessing you filled meds in March and if they were to fill another script of same class II Med it would not be good. One of those powers to be may want to know why you were prescribed so much in march.

I can bet even if they tried to Medicaid or insurance certainly would have refused.

Hi again Loretta. Tina has the right idea and if nothing else ask them to write 2 scripts and you would only have to go every other month. I'm guessing no states changed the reg that says they can give two at one time as long as they are dated the day of your visit and a "do not fill until "date.

One more worrisome thought I had was your going to be going upon 3 weeks before you get your patches by the time this gets remedied. I don't know if your dose currently is a titrated one but should it be, going straight back onto that dose could cause you some problems.

Just saying your system may have rid itself of all the Med and a high dose starting back could be dangerous.

If I can help in anyway please don't hesitate to ask.

Loretta you are just too kind!! There would be no maybe I will get in if this were me.

When you talk to them today give whomever personally I would be talking to whichever person has the most authority, recap this entire mess to them and tell them your coming in and to please find you an appointment.

If they absolutely can't then tell them to please get my scripts ready,do not mail, and go there to pick them up. When you do ask if they can write you the one for next month as well so you will not have to do This again.

If they would do that you only have to go every 3rd month.

You should be fine going back to the 50mcg.

Loretta, I'm in total agreement with others here, and hope you can get into your PM and resolve this issue. This has gone on WAY too long. I just hope you can get transportation scheduled for the dates that you will be needing for those appointments. I know it has not been easy for you with limited resources.

Well everyone It has finally been done. I called my pharmacy this afternoon, and they called my doctor , and she is going to send new scripts to them. I have an appointment with my doctor already on May 30, so I'm going to talk to her, and tell her that I want to come in once a month, and get my scripts.

I don't want to go thru this crap anymore. It's really redicolous. I'll let you all know when I get my meds. They should get the scripts tomorrow.

I would think that you don't even have to pay or have an actual appt. just to pick up your prescriptions. As I've mentioned, I only go every 3 months and leave with two sets of actual prescriptions...one for that month, one for the following month, then I drive there and pick up the last one....then it's my appt. the next month.

You should be able to get this type of schedule or at the very least, be able to just pick up the prescriptions each month but your appts. shouldn't have to change if they have been ok with seeing you every so often. I am surprised that you mention you can go more than 3 months as it is Federal law that those on Schedule 2 meds have to be seen ever 90 days.

Anyway...obviously something HAS to change as you have put up with this kind of stuff for years now!!

I guess I'm still a bit confused why you can't at least push it to every two months and leave the appt. with two sets of prescriptions "in hand". One dated for that day, the next one post dated for the following month?

Trying to help brainstorm to where you don't have to travel/pay for an appt. every single month. I would certainly ask your Dr. about this next time you go.

Whatever works out best to get your meds and make it easier on you:)

Hi Loretta,just checking to see if you got your meds yet? I know the last post Monday showed they were being resent and it's now Wednesday.

Keeping my fingers crossed that there is no more delays.

Loretta, I am so sorry this is happening to you. I don't think everyone realizes that you are at the mercy of the physician who agrees to see you, the Medicaid transport system, and the limitations of your disability. you are unfortunately not someone with the ability to change your situation without a great deal of time, money, energy,and intervention by others.

I know you have the courage to change your situation.... Of that I am sure. It is the logistical part that keeps you in such a difficult position.

Yes, I know this happens to you a lot, but it is not of your doing. It is unfortunately what happens when people don't have the financial or family support they need to alter a poor situation. You should not have to needlessly suffer, but more often than not, you do needlessly suffer! I wish ther were a way to really help. All of the "suggestions" have been great, but they simply won't work for someone at the mercy of others.

I hope you will find help soon my friend. This has to be taking a serious emotional toll on you and Jerome as well.....perhaps you could call and ask another medical provider to help intervene (if you have one like psych or something). I honestly can't remember all of yur doctors and you have been suffering entirely too much!

I don't see where anyone is blaming Loretta.....We have all been extremely supportive over the years and we all have been trying to help brainstorm and find ways so that she doesn't have to go through so often...

That is specifically why I said that trying to see the Dr. every month is probably going to be very difficult for her because of the Medicaid transport...So if she can get the Dr. to actually hand her at least two prescriptions for each med as my Dr. does, then that is one way to ensure she is the one getting the medications to the Pharmacy.

We have all encouraged Loretta to be as assertive as possible and advocate for herself or find someone who can so that she doesn't have this same issue continuing each month.

If it turns out that she can get a ride there every single month with the transport and Medicaid will cover monthly appts. then that might be the way to go if that's the only way to get the correct prescriptions.

I think that everyone has been supportive and trying to help in any way they can with thoughts/suggestions and empathy.

Loretta.? Really? Something hinky about scripts being sent that never arrive, arriving with wrong dates by months,nurses that don't relay messages and Drs that don't make sure their patients are not going 3 weeks without medication.

I'm not convinced those scripts ever left the office and if they did then the problems are with the pharmacy. All of it's irrelevant because your not getting anywhere via phone calls. You have got to get to that office and personally get answers.

Somehow your going to have to get someone to take you appointment or no appointment. We mentioned once before calling on church members,many of us have offered to help anyway we can if you were to ask.

SB is great at searching this internet for resources and she's offered to help you anyway she could. With a little geographical information I bet there are some kinds of local resource to provide you with a ride or something.

I just think its going to take you going there to get this resolved at this point. The medical transportation here actually allows you so many vouchers a year but its at least once a month and you don't go that often so maybe you would have extra if its like that there.

All I know is there has to be a way. You let us know what you need to make this happen and we will know how to help you. Just to keep wishing you better days are falling short somehow.
