trigger finger recovery

i had trigger finger on rt middle, ring and little finger on 4/22/13 along with arthroscopic carpel tunnel.
on 4/23/13 started therapy, yes the next day. was able to make a closed fist and touch thumb to all fingers and bend wrist upward and downward as part of the therapy. it is now 23 days after and i am having trouble with the Metacarpal portion of my ring and middle finger, it seems swollen and tight? is this a normal reaction?
i called the doc and they said i could be doing too much and to ease off it. i have a follow up next week but just checking to see if anyone has had this reaction.

I had the exact same fingers done, all 3 of them. It took months to even seem like recovery was going to happen, probably in part because it was 3 together.

Don't overdo or underdo the exercises. You should be going to "occupational therapy" and having the fingers massaged and stretched professionally and learn new exercises weekly. If your doctor hasn't prescribed it, ask! I was sent the same day the stitches came out.

thanks for the info. i guess i am rushing it a bit. going to go to doctor and get a Rx for therapy my insurance covers it so what the hell.
i have found that massage seems to help a lot.
doctor said to do this 3 times a day to the incision area.
not being able to exercise or GOLF is killing me. i was so optimistic after the surgery i was telling my golf buddies i will be back in 3-4 weeks (not happening). i used to golf 3-4 times a week.
i tried doing a push-up from my knees and the palm of my hand felt like someone scooped out all the muscle in it.
after reading your reply about stretching, i started doing some on my own and will see what the therapist does.
the surgery was a breeze but i guess the healing is going to take time.

I had my index finger, pinky, thumb and open carpal tunnel a year ago April. Recovery dies take a while, especially your grip strength after carpal tunnel. If your Dr. Will prescribe hand therapy, take it. I started hand therapy about three weeks after surgery. It helped a lot.

As others have said, be careful not to over do it, as it will actually prolong your recovery and can lead to complications.
