Just had my 8th bilateral SI joint injections today. When did you have your injection? Did you religiously ice following the injections for the remainder of that day? Do you have a "dead" feeling?
Some people will have numbness or weakness inone or both legs following the procedure. That is why one is required to have a driver afterward. Also, after the lidocaine wears off, some experience more pain for the first 24-48 hours until the steroids kick in. Did you have pain going down your leg BEFORE the injection?
Can you try to describe what feels weird a bit more? Perhaps tell me what is different feeling than before. I'll try to help.

I had my injection this Wed. It's been 48 hours. The hips where hurting and I started draging my leg a little bit before the shot. The med. has not kicked in yet. So the weird feeling I am having in the leg, kinda feels numb kinda circulation is cut off are something. I didn't do the ice on the injections part??? Have you ever heard of that.
The Doctor office is so busy I can hardly get them to even call back.
Please tell me what you know and think.
Wow 8 si joint injections OMG Bless your heart

I broke my sacrum a year ago then fail at Christmas time, then I felt pain in the groin. I knew it was not the sacrum that I hurt. It was so so different. By the x-rays the Dc. said he thought it was the si joint out of placed. But I am not sure about
the chronic sacrolitis. Not sure what it is. :(

I have an autoimmune disease called Ankylosing Spondylitis. If causes inflammation in the SI joints. Additional it can cause the spine and SI joints to fuse. I get enthesitis is multiple tendons. I take a biologic medication by injection every 3 weeks to combat this disease. Normally I do fairly well. However, I got ill in December, was hospitalized, and any stressful experience on the body causes me to "flare."
I have had injections performed by two different doctors. Both have instructed me to ice the injection 20 minutes out of every hour the day of injection. The reason is to lessen the possibility of bleeding and/or swelling where the lidocaine/steroid solution was placed.
I suspect this might be part of the issue, a little more swelling thereby putting more pressure on the nerve. Since you have diffuclty reaching the doctor and the weekend is upon us, I would be careful not to overdo it this weekend, keep the leg up several times a day, and see if there is any gradual improvement. However, if you begin to experience any increased numbness, call the emergency number on the discharge paper you were given, ok?
I will check back here in an hour, then tomorrow, to see if you have more questions or concerns.

Sometimes the steroid injections into the SI joints don't provide much relief. However, it sounds like it didn't do a thing for you so I doubt that it is the SI joint.
Marilyn, have they done a MRI of your pelvis and lumbar spine? I would ask as it would likely be the best tool to get an idea of what is causing your pain and apparent nerve issues. Actually, if the doctor is hesitant to order it, insist! Don't let them let you suffer and lose strength while they make stabs in the dark.
