Finally Chartreux and the Eagle meet!

….every once in a while, we have had the opportunity to meet a forum member who either lives not too far away, or is passing through our city. Tonight we once again were able to enjoyed the company of one of our members here, and what a pleasant surprise it was.

Chartreux, and her hubby, drove all the way up here from deep down in Texas! It never ceases to amaze me, of the image we generate in our minds from the post we read here each day. I had just gotten to the hotel they were staying at, and quickly found the room they were in, and about to knock on the door, when all of the sudden it opened. There stood a lovely lady and her husband, and for a bit we just stood there staring at each other speechless!

Finally we both blurted out each others name, and laughed! Now Chartreux was thoughtful enough to bring photos of her family members and a few photos of her Cats. I shared with her how I had pronounced her name ever since I had known her, and she gently corrected me. We had a nice intro meeting down in the lobby, and soon headed off to the Red Rock Canyon Grill, where we were to meet my wife for dinner.

The food was awesome!..and the conversation even better. I have to say that she has a very nice husband…and a bit of a smart cookie! She is lucky for sure to have him by her side.

You would think that if we took home leftover boxes, then we would be stuffed, but I had one more place for them to try for desert. A little Gelato shop just around from the corner from where we had supper. It was a perfect way to cap off an evening visit.

Just a couple three hours, seemed like seconds, to a much anticipated visit. A photo taken!…a quick hug!…and they were gone in an instant!…off to finish the rest of their journey!

While some of our health issues were somewhat different, the one thing we do share, is pain!….24/7 pain! We understand the same daily battle,……oh maybe a few good days, but for the most part, a struggle only those of us here can understand.

Chartreux, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit with you both! You are a lovely lady, and I thank you for taking the time to stop by for a visit! It was awesome!

Awww this actually made me tear up and shed a few tears it hit me so strongly. How totally awesome it is to meet someone that you have only shared typed words with before. We truly are all connected and should always embrace the chance to spend time with others that have touched us in many ways. I'm so glad you had a nice visit.

…I'm so glad to see that others of you have taken the opportunity to meet members of these HealingWell forums. If I ever get the to retire, my goal is to somehow travel around this great country and visit many more of you. Vickie…you are right!…there are several of you that live in Florida…and my good friend Sherrine is one of them. We plan on taking another trip back down there again…and will certainly look you all up.

We are all bonded with the understanding of an illness, that only we can feel. Our afflictions may differ in many ways, but the end result is always pain.

So!…understanding this fact!,…..Be Kind to each other! That action alone, can be some of the most effective medicine offered.

It makes me so happy to kow that I have joined a community where people care so much about each other they meet in person. I can't wait till I develop these relationships.

David I originally moved to Altamonte Springs 5 years ago when we origionally moved from Kentucky. One of my daughters were already going to school in Daytona and 2 of the others decided in that first 6 months that they would also be going to Daytona State and I had a Sister living in Leesburg but had just bought a house in Ormond Beach.

Since every one would be in the Daytona area and my Son was returning to Ky the girls didnt like the idea of my then 11 yr old being an hour or more away so we all moved to the coast. I live in Daytona Beach Shores and the girls all live 10 minutes up the coast in Port Orange.

When every one finishes school are plans are to permanently settle in St.Augustine as I love the old town feel there.

I miss the season changes of up north but the warmer climate here has been great for me.

I'm so glad you had a great visit with Chart. It is an amazing feeling to meet a hw member irl.

 I had that opportunity in Jan 2011 to meet up with whom I now call my best friend, Michael. We've always skyped but there was nothing like meeting him. I was like a little girl in a candy shop, so so excited. We shared a house we had rented in florida for a week, along with our spouses and had the greatest of times visiting, bbq's touring etc. We were to have shared the house with another hw member but sadly she passed away a month before our meetup. In the week we were there we also met up with two other members and shared our lives and laughter with them as well.

So yes there is nothing like meeting one of our members irl. A totally amazing feeling.

So glad you and Chart had a great visit.

Of note, hubby and I are camping in Maine this August, so if anyone is near the route between Wells and Bar Harbor, please let me know.

Hello Cogito! You know I'm not sure exactly which way she came up from Texas, but maybe she can stop by on the way home. It's good to see you here, as I have not seen you online for a bit.

I just got a message from Chartreux, and she said they made their destination, and to tell everybody she said hello to you all here. They have limited access to the internet, so may not hear much back from them, until they get home in a few days.

David, your not too far away, so you never know, we may just make a quick trip down there for a visit. So start looking for a restaurant!

I so want to meet you all. We are on SSD and SSI, so we can't go far. It seems no one lives close, except Suzanne. I'm still disappointed that we didn't get to hook up. Hopefully you will get down here again, and we will be able to meet up.
