Does anybody know about Sepsis. My sister got e coli and kidney infection then sepsis.  Thank God it's not Sepsis Shock. Very dangerous.  She is in the hospital.

Just wanted to know if anyone knows anything about Sepsis.!!

I've had a sepsis infection before.... it's basically a blood infection.... can be very dangerous -- so the hospital is the place to be! I was treated w/ IV fluids, antibiotics and other medications.

I hope your sister gets well soon.... Please give us an update when you can.

I'm so sorry to hear that your sister has sepsis. I hope that she has a speedy recovery.

I like Tina, have had sepsis, and it can be very dangerous, your sister is in the right place. I was treated with antibiotics and spent 12 days in the hospital before I was allowed home.

Try not to worry to much and make sure you get plenty of rest too. Wishing the best to your sister. Please let us know how your sister is doing.

Sorry to hear of this, hope she pulls through fine. It has the potential to become very dangerous, very fast, and its much more common than many think. Just read an article recently about how widespread it is, even in some of the best named hospitals in the country.

Hello Marilyn. Sorry to hear your Sister has sepsis and thankfully she is already being treated.

It can be a really dangerous situation and the sooner treatment is started the lower the risk of organ involvement.

Will keep her in my prayers and sending you and your family healing thoughts.

She is not in ICU. Did anyone have to stay in ICU?

Yes, I have known some guys in the Prostate Cancer group that got it bad after surgery, and had to spend ICU time to stabilize it.

Who is treating her Marilyn? If she's not under the care of a Infection control specialist I would look into getting one on board.

This is the kind of thing you don't want to mess with and you want the best and most knowledgeable Drs. Sepsis if not treated quickly and aggressively can cause systems to fail.

Im not trying to worry you but sepsis is not anything to play around with.

sepisemia is a pathogenic (bacterial) infection that has become systemic by being dispersed into circulatory system. and unless treated will prob continue to circulate unless your immune system can tackle it. common after many kinds of surgery.

 I am so glad your sister is feeling better.  Sepsis moves really fast! My sepsis also started in the kidneys. I was feeling bad, but still teaching at 2:00

I had a dr appt at 4:00. They were behind, and by 4:30 I was unconscious on the office floor. I was in icu for 3 days and 3 more in a regular room.  When I went home I had oral antibiotics. I assume your sister has oral medication also.  It's always important to take the full term of medication, but with sepsis its even more imperative to take the full course and to take them on time. The follow up after the meds course is also important as the sepsis can return quickly.

Fortunatly I didn't have a reoccurance, but have heard of people who relapsed quickly. Your sister is foryunate that yoou are there to help her.
