hey there Vickie!
I'm so glad to meet you and I hope you have a great night. Thanxs so much for welcoming me into the group & the great post. :o)
As you said, "Once you find the right team of Healthcare professionals that find a combination of what works for you and get your pain leveled out and manageable more times then not you will take on a whole new outlook on life and 15-20 years doesn't seem like impossible. Many here have not found that yet either from a lack of good Drs or lack of insurance and ability to pay for what's needed to achieve that. Its really sad and no one should have to suffer due to lack of money."
It is not only sad but it takes a lot of time, as you posted: to find the RIGHT team of healthcare professionals but for a lot of us we have already been in so much pain, some of us for years (I myself am one of those that have suffered for yrs. & still suffers) for so long that it's hard to be yet still more patient and understanding towards the healthcare professionals that are there to help us.
Or you have those that take one look and have already decided and made up their minds w/o even speaking with you that your a "pill head" or "pill seeker" whichever one you prefer which for most of us we're NOT, we're just looking for some much needed relief and massive sleep. Which when combined as you know lack of both can greatly diminish your patience, understanding, compassion, personality, outlook and overall attitude towards others and the situation in general and cause other health issues as well.
The only reason I say this is because I was recently treated this way before being admitted at one of the local hospitals where I live. After a week and 1/2 stay at the hospital not due to any issues with my lower back. I recently could not keep anything down, I kept vomiting and they couldn't figure out why. (FYI: they still haven't figured it out and have me on a anti vomiting med. for temp. treatment until they do) everyone was great, the Dr.'s, nurses, ect. ect. until I mentioned my meds, lower back issues and back surgery (they asked about meds I was taking on a reg. basis ect. ect. you know the drill) a PCA and 2 out of those 4 professionals looked at me like "uh huh, now we know why she's really here, she ran out of meds" 1 even started whispering to another 1 loud enough to where I could hear, talk about blatant.
It wasn't until my close friend arrived 15 minutes later with my bag, i.d. and meds which had just been filled the day prior to my admission that's when they changed their attitude. Actually a couple of them became red faced and walked away, personally I feel it was because they had judged me prematurely and became not only embarrassed but ashamed for mistreating me but also thinking that way before they knew my whole story.
After that one incident my stay at the hospital was great, if one could be called "great". lol but you get the idea. Sorry, I didn't mean to stand on a soap box... I just get on a topic I'm passionate about and I tend to ramble a bit, I do apologize for taking up every ones reading time. I sound so bitter I'm really not, I'm just frustrated and tired.. everyone, please just ignore my rambling...again I do apologize.
Everyone, have a great night and hope to meet the rest of the group soon. Hope to chat again with those of you I have met. :o)
Warmest Regards,
