Weekend was okay, have 1 doctor's appointment this week and 1 dental cleaning...forgot to use my asthma inhaler, got to get back in the swing of using that medication, I might need a daily medication chart made up as I've added a few supplements that I'm forgetting stuff...wow...didn't think I'd be forgetting stuff in my 40's...

Wife was ill this weekend, with some kind of respitory ailment and a hacking cough, plus she was on call with the call phone and was getting bugged with endless work calls all through the nights and days.

We mostly stayed home and chilled out. Especially on Sunday. For me, it was mostly a "normal" pain time period, and I went out of my way and stole as many naps as I could get away with.

We did watch the new "Journey to the Mysterious Island" and "Puss in Boots", both in 3-D on our new
3-D television set. Boy, talk about picture quality, as good as being in the theater, real easy to get hooked on that technology.

Got a busy agenda this week, but rather not think about that right now, lol.

Hey David seen you mention the 3D TV I just got one about a month or so ago, 55 inch and with that 3D.......well all I can say is WOW!!! I like the new 3D anyway and always go to see the movies that are in 3D.  I actually have become quite a fan of it! I just got some more 3D glasses for my set so when my kids and grandkids come I will have enough for all of them. Boy those aren't cheap, as I have the shutter type that sync with the TV. They don't have to be connected to the TV but you do have to plug them into the USB port of your computer every now and them to charge the batteries in them. Anyway I am hooked on the 3D stuff!

Not much going on with me, I had a bad bout of sciatica pain in my right hip and leg this weekend, I am not sure what I did to activated it, but what ever I did, I wish I hadn't!!!LOL  I am trying something new I talked to my Pain Management Doctor about it a couple of weeks ago. I want to see if I can wean off the pain meds. I am doing it very slowly, I went from 40mg every 8 hours to 30mg every 8 hours and didn't notice any difference at all! When  I go in for my refill appointment we are going to try lowering it again. My goal is to see if I can get off of them completely. I know my back is a mess, and just since Sept 2009 I have had three major back surgeries. And they will not even touch the thoracic disks and those are the ones that put me on disability and started me on the pain meds to begin with. I know from my last back surgery this past January, that L-5 is really bad and I will need to have a discectomy and fusion in the future.  Anyway I want to move from where I live now,  and where I want to go to, allot or most of their pain management clinics don't use pain meds as part of there treatment regime.  So we shall see, if this will work??? My PM doctor said he will help me in anyway he can, he did remind me of the condition of my back and if it doesn't work he would work with me on maybe trying to find another avenue to treat my back pain. Maybe a pain pump might be in order?  But I first want to try and see if I can manage without the medications. I have been on them for going on 15 years now, and I do want to see if I can go without them.

I did a lot of research before buying into the 3-D bit, and you may or may not agree with my findings. There is both active 3D (which require expensive glasses/batteries) and passive 3D. Its kind of like the battle years ago between Beta and VHS, and we know how that turned out.

Most movie theaters use Passive 3D, the glasses are cheap and look more like sunglasses. 2 came with my tv, and I bought 2 more for 8 dollars a piece. They require no charging.

From what I read (not pretending to be an expert here), that Passive 3D will likely win the format battle, its suppose to be easier on the eyes and on the brain. Some people are too sensitive to watch 3D movies in general, especially if there is any tendency toward epilepsy. It can cause visual overload in others, and bad head aches.

In the Active 3D, the shuttering in the glasses is basically faking out the human eyes, by turning on and off one lens or the other, where in Passive 3D, the glasses are just combining the two images on the movie (you notice without the glasses you can see blurring).

In my area, on Charter Cable, HBO was the first to offer free streaming 3D movies, which are broadcast in SBS mode (side by side mode), two separate digital signals. The glasses simply combine the two into one. The selection is weak now, but more are being added. Charter also has some pay-per 3D moves, but seems like they were 8-9 buck a piece.

I have bought several good 3D movies already. The only one I thought was weak, was the newly remastered Titantic movie. Still a good movie, but the 3D effects were limited. I have the 2nd Silent Hill movie on order, I saw it at the theater in 3D, and it was great use of 3D.

It's am amazing age we live in with technology. BTW, mine is just 42" (small living room) Vizio, and its a smart TV too, with both Amazon Prime and Netflix a touch of a button on the remote away.

David, hope your wife is feeling better. We're still battling that nasty cough here. Hubby and I are going on week 3 still with the cough. And 2 out of the 4 kids now have it.

Okay I know I complained out the cold all winter. But the heat we've been having I think is much worse. Another day today up in the 90's. Yesterday it was still 97 at 6pm. The heat is terrible but the humidity is worse. Yuck!

Plus side is my veggie garden is really loving it. Peas should be ready by this weekend. And I have lots of little zukes and summer squash. Of course I have a garden full of weeds also. lol

My youngest is almost halfway through all her PT sessions. And we had the molds made last week for her orthotics. Made it up to the New Balance outlet this past weekend and picked her up a bigger shoe to fit when the orthotic is ready on July 5th. Hopefully it works. She just wants to be able to run and ride her bike.

Other than that not much going on here. Kids are giving more grey highlights to my hair now that they are on vacation.

Having issues with my zanaflex not really working anymore. So need to call and see if he'll change me over to something else. And started with a new annoying pain in my hands. Not sure if its just arthritis or if my pronator teres is acting up again. I'm hoping for its not the pronator teres. Not really wanting another surgery to fix it.

Sorry for just popping in and out this week but still having internet problems. They we're here yesterday but for whatever reason something is messing with the wifi. Whatever it is actually freezes up my phone or whatever I'm on.

I've got a few options but both cost money so have to wait until the 1st.

So I will get in when I can and know I think of all of you everyday even if I can't stay on long enough to reply to threads very often.

Hi All! Sorry I'm a day late writing my check in. This weekend was good. I did have to rest on Sunday due to pain but it wasn't a complete flare up... more like my body giving me a clue to take a break, so I did. We also found out my Granddog is terrified of fireworks and firecrackers. He has also decided that Granny is the designated owner who will protect him from any and all loud noises so my nights were spent with with a 40 pound dog on my lap. Did I mention it was almost 90 degrees and we have no air conditioning in my house? LoL. I was sooooo hot! But I must admit that I was touched that my doggy thinks so highly of me! :0)

This week there is nothing big going on with me. I have a dear friend who has bone cancer so I am going to a couple of appointments with him to find out his next plan of treatments but nothing for me, personally. Maybe I'll even end up with a full paycheck for once! (I'm on intermittent FMLA and while my job is protected when I miss work, I'm no longer paid for my time off).

I hope all of you feel well this week. I pray we all have LPD (low pain days) and get a chance to relax this week!

Hi everyone This past weekend wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best either. My back pain wasn't too awful bad, but the head pain was what bothered me so much.

I had blood work done yesterday, and I have an appointment with my PCP Thursday. That's what is going on with me this week.

I hope everyone has a good week, with low pain.

My weekend was low keyed.

I am having problems still with my back.  No sewing on the machine while my back hurts.

Hubby has an echocardiogram and a doppler of upper legs this friday.  I get to go along.  Oh Boy.

Monday is a chemical stress test.  One week later we go to the doc office to get results.

This morning I was walking with a cane.  Hurt!

A 26 yr old guy worked 4 hours in our yard yesterday.  He will be back next week to work  more in the yard.

borough was on my hiney.  Husband cant cut the grass and neither can I.

We have had some pretty severe storms come through last night and again tonight. Lots rain in a short amount of time. Been so hot and humid outside, and sure doesn't help anything glad that my AC works really well, I try and keep my house at around 66 degrees. I like it cool and I feel better when it is cool and lower humidity. But it looks like it is going to be a long hot summer.

David the first  new 3D movie I saw was A Christmas Carol in late October 2009 it was at the theater and used the passive 3D. I loved it. I have been to allot of the 3D movies since then, with the latest one being the Great Gatsby that I went to last month. Anyway I have gotten allot of the 3D movies on DVD one of the best as far as visual effects ( although it doesn't have much of a plot and I thought was a little long) but the 3D was fantastic! That movie is Cirque DuSoleil Worlds Away I was not really impressed with the movie except for the 3D effects! I kind of like the active shutter 3D I do think it is comparable to the passive, I don't know as I think one is better than the other, just a different method of acquiring the same affect.  My TV is an Hitachi and it has a 2D to 3D mode where you can look at a regular movie and convert it to 3D, it is ok but not near as good as the regular made for 3D movies. I think your probably right about the passive winning out. The active shutter glasses are expensive, I have four of them, and will probably get a couple of more just to have on hand. They do work really well and when you take them off during a movie, there is the regular double image  of everything, but with them on, everything is really sharp 3D.  The lithium battery keep a charge for a good long time and they don't take all that long to recharge using the USB port on any computer or the TV. The only reason I got this TV is because it was on the mark down table at Sam's Club as it was the last one and a display model. I got a heck of a deal, and saved a bundle over the regular store  price. Also got the extra three year warranty from Sam's so I am all set for a while.

Hi all,

I should probably start up a new "update" thread about me, as it's been several months since I last posted & I know not everyone will read this. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow or later this week, but I'm too tired to get started on it tonight.

Anyways, I did just want to pop over and say "hi" to everyone! I've missed you all. I've been out of grad school for a month now (summer break), but up until now, have been unable to post. I was without a computer for about 3 wks, as my laptop died (thankfully it waited until after exams), and I only just replaced it two days ago. It was only a 5 yr old computer, and they might have been able to fix the problem, but the "geniuses" at the apple store could not fix it/even find the exact problem, and thought it was questionable whether they would even be able to fix it if I sent it back to the factory, as the problem appeared to be in the microcircuitry. I was also told that even if they could fix the problem, it was not likely to last more than a few months. I need to have a reliable computer for school, as almost all my notes and textbooks are electronic because it allows me to enlarge them, which makes reading easier on my eyes -- not to mention that if I were to have problems, the nearest Apple store is 1.5+ hrs away from school -- so I was essentially forced to buy a new computer (goodbye +/- my entire savings account, ugh).

Other than that little fiasco, the summer has been very busy thus far. I've been working full time, and also planning a bridal shower and a bachelorette party for my sister, who is getting married at the end of the summer. Hopefully after the bridal shower this weekend, things will be a little less hectic, and I can get some much needed rest and relaxation.

Hope everyone here is doing well! I tried to read some of the threads from time to time while I was in school, but between the end of the school year/exams, and then my computer issues, I really haven't even been able to do that for a while. I will say though, that even when I wasn't able to read or post, all my friends here at HW were constantly on my mind!

haven't seen that movie you said had best 3d effects. when we went to see the Great Gatsby, there were only about 20 of us at a Saturday evening showing, and they wouldn't show it in 3D, said there werent' enough patrons to justify seeing it that way, so we got stuck in 2D. However, we utterly loved the movie, and I will buy it in September when its supposed to be released in Blue Ray/3-D.

When I bought the tv, the Vizio expert for the region happened to be in the store, and spent about 20 mins explaining the 3D technology to me. He didn't need to sell me on Vizio, as we already had 3 other Vizio tvs in the house. He said what you are seeing is two distinct signals, one is all horizontal, and the other is all vertical, with the passive glasses, one side sees only vertical and the other side only sees horizontal, so together, you see both overlapped as what we perceive to be 3-D. Either way, the technology is spreading, give it another year and it will be common. Reminds me of when DVD's first came out, how scarce they were, and how limited the selection.

David I like the Vizio TV, I have two of them a 37 inch LED one in my bedroom, I have had it for over three years and it works great and another smaller one 26 inch LED with internet and every thing. I got both of those on the mark down table too! If they would have had the 55 inch Vizio with 3D I definitely would have gotten it. But with the deal I got on the Hitachi I just couldn't pass it up! I have my 55 Hitachi set up in front:-) of my tread climber, I just wish they would make 3D walking DVD's ( like walking through a woods on a trail or through the country side, they have them in normally 2D) but it would be really neat to be walking on my Bow flex tread climber using 3D walking on a scenic trail!

Hi Skeye I look forward to reading your update! Am anxious to hear how you have been and how your doing in grad school. It seems like it has been ages since I have seen a post from you! Welcome back!!

Whitebeard, I am sure that those types of soothing DVDs will be out in 3D at some point, as it catches on. You can already get the IMAX under the sea ones in 3-D, that could be a good distraction while exercising. Charter has them in 3-D for rentals currently.
