New Member in Pain:

Hello everyone: I happened upon this forum yesterday and it looked really nice. I'm looking forward to becoming a valued member. I certainly qualify. I'm in chronic bad pain all day and night. I don't want to belabor you with all the details right now. This is just an introductory type thing. I'm a 65 yr. old lady who's on SSDI and workmens comp. I don't work and haven't since 1996. I wish I did work, actually. That way I'd have more of a social life. I've got severe disc disease in the lumbar spine and a variety of other goodies to deal with. I'm here to offer support and learn from those who know how to treat pain better than any doctor. That would be you. More soon and thanks for being here. Stronglady.

From reading your post, you do indeed sound "strong". You have been through a lot since 1996. Like you, I too wish I was still able to work. It's been 5 years for me now, and I dearly miss my job and my former career.

I hope you feel welcome here, sure you will fit right in. Look forward to getting to know you better, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask, a lot of experienced people here, and if you ever need to vent, vent freely, we are use to that all do it from time to time.

Hello Stronglady and welcome to the chronic pain forum. Sorry to read that you too suffer with chronic pain. Everyone that comes here has a story to tell as to what brought them here. However, the bottom line is we all suffer with pain and certainly know what a crazy ride it can be. It is amazing at times when you look and see how many people are afflicted with this mess. One thing about it, by coming here you know that you are not alone.

Let me also Welcome you strong lady to this Healing Well Chronic Pain Forum. No you are not alone or other wise unusual in with drawing or isolating yourself because of your pain. That is a pretty common thing to do when suffering from chronic pain, Not really a healthy thing to do but it is rather common, I think part of the reason allot of us with chronic pain do that is because of depression. Depression is often a partner of chronic pain, depression just seems to accompany chronic pain, and often if your depressed you tend to isolate yourself. So no your not the only one who does that! That is the nice thing about this forum when your here, your with people who know and understand what it is like living with chronic pain, your no longer alone with your pain!

Anyway I do hope you stick around and become an active member of our forum. Share with us what your comfortable with, and know that there are caring and compassionate people listening and are here to give you support and share what advice we may have. Again I Welcome You!

Stronglady, welcome to the forum. Definitely no need to water down or minimize your issues here...I find myself to be like you in that I often downplay my issues and/or even deny myself of the fact that I do have these issues, this is my life, etc. I never want those around me to think of me as weak or broken. I love being able to post here...and to read the journeys of others. Your story can help motivate someone else who may be experiencing the same things. Everything from medicines to surgeries to just feeling down about it all...you will find all of these things here on this board. And a great group of truly caring individuals. Welcome!

Welcome Stronglady!

Several of us here suffer from spinal issues, me being one of them. I had a double Lumbar fusion back in 2010, and still suffer with pain today.

Were glad you are here, and welcome any experience you would like to share with our members.
