Hi Cathy May I ask are you, are you talking about
having surgery on your elbow? Does this doctor think your arm and elbow pain and weakness in your hand is caused in your elbow? Have they checked out your neck and cervical disks in your neck? Like doing an MRI of your cervical spine? The reason I ask these questions, is I had severe pain in my elbow and forearm and into my hands, with weakness in my fingers, and the reason was caused by a herniated disk at C6/7 in my neck. Often when you have nerve root impingement the pain and discomfort and weakness is felt further down the line from what the nerve root innervates, in this case your arm and hand. Just curious if they had checked this out first before wanting to do surgery? Twenty five years after my first cervical disk surgery, I again started having pain in my arms and hands and weakness, the disk above my discectomy and fusion went bad, this time at C5/6 and I ended up having to have another ACDF (Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion) But both times immediately after the surgery the pain in my arm and hands was gone!
Anyway just curious about if they had checked that on you. Good Luck to You
