cry Had spinal tap yesterday, so glad I had my pcp orders for a nebulizer treatment...gosh, I told every nurse about the nebulizer orders just in case and still everyone was so in a uproar cause I went into total asthma flair right after the spinal tap, they had me rushing everywhere in that little hospital bed, but finally got the nebulizer treatment which helped so much and on top of that my blood pressure when crazy 102/44 for a few readings but it came back up after the nebulizer treatments...
today just in headache city...on tyenol which is helping but can be up for long...so I'll end it here...over all will nt every do again, never...can stand to be flat on my back, kicks asthma in.... cry

uuugg doesnt sound like fun. Sorry things are not going well right now. HOpe your headache goes away and that you dont ever go through that again!!

Omg Char! Honey you went thru it.

So sorry to hear you had such a bad time of it. I wouldn't ever be able to lie flat that long either, have COPD and absolutely cannot breath like that.

Had viral encephalitis back in 86 and had 2 taps, remember well having the headache from moving around. Not good.

Try to just sleep as much as possible, rest and tomorrow should be better. Praying for you.

I had a spinal tap and it's pretty much the worst pain in the world. Scratch that, the spinal tap migraine is even worse. I was admitted because the spinal tap pressure was through the roof.

Good luck, lay low and try to sleep.

I definitely can empathize with you Chart, I had a spinal tap way back in my early days of my military service, in fact I was stationed in Taiwan. They did the spinal tap and kept me in the hospital and I was to lay flat on my back for at least eight hours, but they didn't tell that to the nurses on the unit, and they made me get up to go to the bathroom. The meds they were giving me made me constipated, which made things all that much worse! Anyway it was not pretty! I ended up having a spinal headache for over three days, and had to spend four days in the hospital for good measure!  That was the worst headache I have ever had!

I do hope you can get some positive answers  from the spinal tap, so as they can find out  what is going on with you! Be careful and be safe, just take it real easy for a few days.

So sorry that you had to do the spinal tap route. I know how they are I've had more than I care to count. My last group of them were terrible. The ER Dr tried to do the tap three times, before I insisted that the get someone who knew what they were doing. The med tech who was helping, told me I was "one tough lady" that he'd seen soldiers fall out from that.

Of course, I ended up with a terrible headache and needed a blood patch done to resolve the problem. I sure hope that by tomorrow your headache is gone. If it's not I would highly recommend that you go to the urgent care or ER and have them look at you. I know it's hard to lay flat with breathing problems. I'm on 2 liters of oxygen and still have to sleep on 3 pillows.

Is it possible for your hubby to put a pillow under your shoulders to help with your breathing? Are you able to keep anything down? Try to make sure you keep hydrated that will also help with your headache. I sure hope that the tests can provide you and your Doctors with the information that they need to figure out what's going on with you.

Hope you feel better real soon and many prayers are coming your way. Hope your daughter is doing well and know that I'm thinking of you.

I haven't been around much lately -- combo of school & not doing well myself -- but, anyways, I saw this & I thought I'd just reply to you quickly. I'm really sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time! :-( Spinal taps are no fun indeed. I remember having one done a few years ago, and it took several tries for them to get it & in the mean time they kept hitting nerves that sent shooting pain down my legs. Yuck!

Like others have said, if you're not feeling better tomorrow (or even tonight if it gets worse), at the very least, I'd call your doctor. You might need to be seen either by your doctor or the ER. Spinal headaches are really nasty, but they are a pretty easy fix. You might still be leaking some spinal fluid from the puncture site, in which case, they can do a blood patch, and that should stop the pain. Unfortunately, they aren't that uncommon, especially if you don't/can't lie flat for a few hours after the procedure.

I really hope that this resolves soon, and you start feeling better! Even though I haven't been on HW much lately, I do still think of you and many others often!

Hi Char I'm sorry that you're having such a rough time. I hope the headache goes away, and you feel better really soon. I hope and pray that the test will give you and your doctor some answers on what's going on with you.

Chart, sorry to read of your rough spinal tap experience.

Like some others here, I had a blotched one several years back, the doctor messed it up real bad with my wife watching paralyzed at what she witnessed. I went completely and literally white with pain, couldn't see anything but white before my eyes, and felt like I was having an out of body experience. Worse pain I ever had or could imagine. Fortunately, it didn't last long, but seemed like an eternity at the time. I would never consent to go through another one, unless I was put completely under.

Hope you get better from that.

Sounds like you are having a terrible time. :( Bless your heart.

I just wanted to stop in and try to send a little encouragement your way. My son has asthma and it is a scary thing, so on top of a spinal tap which is pretty scary too I imagine your day was pretty awful. Sending prayers up for you. <3

Chart, are they going to do any follow-up for the Chiari that showed up on your MRI? If not then I would sure ask someone to get me with a specialist to have this checked out. This condition can cause many, many problems for some.
