I was accused by someone in this forum for not taking pain meds frequently (not sure if that is a bad thing confused). So I am going to go after some drugs.

Currently I am taking 500 mg Acetaminophen + 8 mg Codeine (dosage is 2 pills). It works quite decently for me.

I tried taking aspirin and ibuprofen but was not satisfied.

So what do you suggest? what is the best choice for chronic back pain that is low to moderate but persists constantly. I have an eye on naproxen and ketoprofen, which are supposed to be stronger. Please advice.

If OTC drugs aren't enough, consider Tramadol.
In other countries it is OTC, but here needs a script.

As other options, chiropractor, trigger point injections, TENS unit, acupuncture, kneeling chair. Hit or miss with all these, but you never know until you try.

Yeah I heard that Tramadol is strong. But the side effects look scary; they say it is a narcotic drug.

How about ketoprofen and naproxen; anyone using them? What side effects do they bring. Both are OTC so easy to get without a prescription.

Tramadol has the *action* of a narcotic without actually being one. It's generally the first go-to medication that gets used as an inbetween of OTC meds and narcotic pain meds.

I personally hate tramadol, it causes my muscles to get sort of itchy, and I have to keep moving. I feel very uncomfortable on it. You can get a higher dose of Panadol/codeine which may work better for you, if you are not into the pain patches. A low dose pain patch is very good just gives you a small continuous amount of pain relief and you can still drive and work and feel quite normal. Doesn't knock all pain out, but shifts it into background noise.

Codeine doesn't come in 8 mg ? What is it that you're currently taking, besides tylenol ?

Tramadol makes me feel like a zombie...took it for a while a few years ago. Gave me massive headaches too.

It make me feel almost as bad as nucynta. UghYuck!
