Vickie,
Perhaps this will make you feel better about
your situation. I have the opposite drinking input, I virtually only drink water, lots and lots of it, at least 2-3 liters per day. It's rare if I drink anything else, sometimes mineral water, sometimes sugar free soda. I do not even drink tea or coffee.
So all that water drinking certainly hasn't help to save my crumbling teeth.
Like you, I am in a permanent state of thirst. I have to be sipping on something constantly. This is not due to meds, in my case, it's a remaining permanent side effect of that neck/throat radiation I underwent in year 2000. Among other things, it really did a number on my saliva glands. To this day, I couldn't spit to save my life.
I have tried the OTC products for dry mouth, but they do little to help me.
Drinking water only (or mostly water) is definitely a good health habit to develop, and it's never too late. Is your blood sugar level ok with all the sugar you consume in the sodas and ice tea you drink?
In the years I lived in NH, there was a serious risk to drinking water, there was lots of radon (radiation) in deep well water like we had, because of all the granite in the ground. So we mostly used bottle water to drink.
