with my upcoming medication trial coming up in a week and a half, i got to thinking. when getting the shot or catheter or how ever they inject the medicine. has anyone ever got a spinal headache from the injection.
now i've had a couple myelograms in the past and no ill effects, just curious. thanks in advance......

hope today fines everyone feeling pretty good..

I don't know the answer to your question, as you never indicated what medication trial you were undergoing, but I can't believe you had two myelograms with no ill effects. That's great!!! I had two also and the pain following after was absolutely horrible. Of course this was in the 80's , so I'm sure they have made many improvements and advancements since then.

So! If I ever am facing a myelgram in the future, I have your positive post to keep under my belt and perhaps alleviate some anxiety. Thanks for sharing that. See, you never know what you will learn from these boards!!

Sadly, I don't have an answer for you as I've never had this procedure done.

I can relate, however, to spinal headaches, in so much that after my spine surgery, I got whoppers for headaches for several weeks post-op. My PCP said she never heard of such a thing, but my neurosurgeon said with work that extensive into the spinal cord, yep, it's not uncommon.

So,....there's always that! (The differing opinions in the medical community)

Good luck, and keep us posted. As Linda pointed out, the advancements they've made in medical procedures are phenomenal.

I feel bad that I cannot give you answer since I did a trial 8 yrs ago. Try doing a google search & see what you can pull up. Hate it when I cannot remember things.

evening all and thank you for responding. the trial is for a pain pump that if all goes well i hope to get it some time here in october. the medicine is either gonna be dilaudid or morphine. time will tell..

the trick for me with the myelogram was the doctor said to lay down and drink plenty of fluids.
so i drink water like a fish. he said to do that for a couple of days so i did. heard that spinal
headaches are a real bear and that people had to go to the E.R. for treatment...no thanks.

well i got the answer to my question concerning spinal headaches. the doctors office called today
with some info and also to see what meds. i'm on and stuff like that. so looks like i'm all set for monday.
yeah!!! di guess i'm looking forward to it. wish me luck.. so how is everyone doing tonight.

That's great Mark! Hopefully all will go well and this will be the answer to your prayers. Just keep your expectations to a minimum and reasonable and even those with a pump must still rely heavily on other modalities to help the meds.

Far too many times we see people going in expecting this to be their genie in a bottle and take away all their pain. That's unrealistic and as long as those are not the results you expect you shouldn't be disappointed!
