Chronic inflammation pain

Hi all
I could really do with some help and some advice, i am 29 years old and since i was about 21-22 i have been getting pain and swelling in my hands, feet, ankles and pain in my back and neck. I get a burning feeling in my hands,ankles and feet they swell up like balloons and they get very stiff, i try ice packs to cool them down but to no avail. So i decided to go to my doctor about it, he referred me to a rheumatologist. She had put me on anti inflammatory tablets like lyrica and naproxen but to no avail and she has done x-rays, mri scans, bone scans and nerve tests and all has come back clear, i feel like I'm going insane now because i feel like i have some sort of arthritis but she told me no i don't so I'm not sure what my next step is. I had a very rare skin condition when i was young called "actinic prurigo" which my father has also but i grew out of it in my late teens. I also at the same time these symptoms came upon i developed asthma i suffer badly with my breathing now & as a result of my feet problems i cant walk much at all and have put on a lot of weight roughly i am about 14 stone now! I also suffer with my bowl, they say i have irritable bowl syndrome and my eyes are very sensitive to light. Please please can someone help me with my pain and swelling in my hands ankles and feet or can you give me some advice.

I know what I'm about to say is regarding a different condition, but it is reminiscent of my own.

With skin conditions such as psoriasis, there can be an accompanying condition called psoriatic arthritis. What I found with me was that I also had a compromised pulmonary system, chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma.

All inflammation related, and just my luck, I'm allergic to non-steroidal anti-inflammatories to boot!

But anyhoo, the correlation might be something to consider. Pop into the psoriasis forum and ask around. I've found more than one connection between skin conditions (mine was also rare, called PRP) and inflammation involving joints and lungs.

Worth a try maybe?

 I suggested psoriatic arthritis to my rheumatologist as my brother and my mam have psoriasis and then with myself and my dad have this rare skin condition she shut me down because I don't have psoriasis and she keeps telling me the tests she done does not show any joint problem, so I took pictures of the inflammation to show her she said she doesn't know but they are inflamed. I just don't know where to go from here How did they discover your problem because up until now I did not think that my "asthma" which was only diagnosed by my family doctor was related to this.

Vickie -- I absolutely agree! Anything is worth a try. It's suffering in darkness that is more painful.

I think Susie's idea of getting in with a Rheumy is a good idea. It sounds like you need a fresh set of eyes looking at this.

I know how hard it is getting those new eyeballs to take a gander,...it can be scary.

I'm learning along the way,...you hire the doctors to help and if you're not getting help, you keep trying. It's not about searching until you "hear what you want," it's about searching until you find the help that you need and that works.
