My husband had the Medtronic NeuroStimulator implanted in Aug 2013. It worked great for about 2 weeks, then the problems started. He would turn his machine off as his doctor told him to do, and it would turn itself back on and start shocking him. It would jump programs seemingly at will and shock him so badly he would be on the ground on his knees. He went back and forth to his doctor (90 miles one way) and was told each time that it was fine. He had a knot come up in the middle of his back were the leads were attached to his spine that has been drained of fluid 3 times and each time, doctors said it was normal, nothing to worry about. He can't sit at certain places in church because it shuts off the other men's hearing aids due to the electric frequency, again, doctors said that can't happen and everything was normal, but it does happen. I can't begin to tell you how many times the system has been reprogrammed (by the Medtronic employees/reps) just since August. As of today, he is back in the hospital trying to decide what to do. Twice this week, he has woken me up not being able to breathe or even move his arms or legs. He is having constant chest pain and left arm numbness. There is something majorly wrong with this device and rather than admit it, the doctors and the company continue to say everything is normal. We were led to believe that this would help him with his pain. We were well aware that it wouldn't stop his pain but he would be able to do more without the need of his prescription pain meds that he's been tied to for years. I pray that those getting this surgery have better luck. Be sure and ASK QUESTIONS.
