QUESTION:Since I've already determined that I absolutely do not want to treat with this particular doctor, should I send a written letter to his office retracting the "records release authorizations" I had to sign?
Most of the paperwork I filled out (*) had to do with what language I speak, language spoken at home, want to be spoken in, what race I am (and of course they give room to decline to answer), am I a US citizen, where was I born,....a good chunk of it was laden with authorizations to release medical information.
.................. * 3 out of the 5 pages.
While he doesn't have a whole lot of information to release, (not much health Hx was taken, just my list of meds, and perhaps his opinion of my medication list,---which while extensive, has worked for me for years,...but a strong sense of judgment was parlayed, without inquiring about details).
I do not want him releasing anything to anyone, nor do I want him receiving information. Note: While I did bring some copies of some of my most recent treatment/diagnostics so he could photocopy them,...and he just briefly glanced at them and shoved them to the side of the desk without addressing them.
(To wit, I quickly folded them back up and tucked them away). I'm so glad that, for whatever reason, (gut? intuition?) I held off on having my records forwarded to his office in advance, despite being requested to do so when I made that appointment.
............... * he also left my completed paperwork on the table in the exam room as we walked out, door left open.
What is the protocol, and what should I do (or how should I handle this) given the above?
I'm adding to this list of "new experiences" I encounter....
Thanks guys.
