I'm Christina, I am new here and this is my first post (forgive me if I am posting in wrong forum) I have recently been diagnosed with Stiff person syndrome and I begin IVIg treatments soon. Good to be here! (other ailments unfortunately =( in my signature)

Hi Christina1981 I would like to Welcome you to Healing Well Chronic Pain Forum, it sometimes takes a little while before you get replies, but please be patient with us, as I think in a short time you will find, more replies and welcomes and such, than you would ever imagine getting!

You know it has been quite along time ago now, I had one neurologist try and tell me he thought I had  Stiff Person Syndrome due to all my symptoms, and after some extensive EMG and nerve conduction studies, but other doctors disagreed and was I never formally diagnosed. To my knowledge they never checked my GAD antibodies. I do suffer from muscle spasms through out my body and take Baclofen to control them. I found a web site with some good information about it, here is the link.

Hello Christina and welcome to HW! Sorry for the slowed response as I've been having some internet problems today and it's not letting me stay logged in very long!

Wanted to stop in while I could and say hi and I know you'll enjoy the forum and all it can bring you.

Its a great group of people with decades of experience dealing with chronic pain.

I certainly will be watching for follow up posts from you to hear more.

Meant to reply to you, my neuro said I had to take the blood test to diagnose the stiff person. This is actually my 3 rd doctor to try to figure whats wrong! He has finally been able to help.

Welcome to HealingWell! You will find that everyone here is very kind, supportive and excellent listeners/readers!

I suffer from a whole bunch of medical conditions that cause me Chronic Pain, insomnia and depression. I have a broken back, but after several surgeries I am able to walk with just a cane, so I'm fortunate in that aspect. I also have a dysfunctional bladder due to nerve damage from when I injured my back at work. I have fibromyalgia, BiPolar, Borderline Personality Disorder, sleep apnea...etc, etc...I also have a terrible memory, so I can't recall the other medical conditions I've been diagnosed with since my work accident.

Anyways, if you are suffering from Chronic Pain, you have come to the right place. We completely understand and can relate to your pain and suffering. I look forward to reading more posts from you.

You totally reminded me of something, I've had some recent issues pop up that I need to mention to my doc. My bladder is way over active and I'm having the hardest time 'getting it out' if that makes sense. I feel it all the time. I can't catch a break. Every time I think I'm ok another symptom pops up. My inner ear is messed up and the steroids are not healing it. Thanks no worries for the welcome.

Thanks, ive been down lately with a stomach bug.and fever. Also, just been down period ( down in the serious dumps) Havent been online much. Hope all is well!
