another city stops group of drivers & takes cheek swaps to test for prescription drugs

****Please be sure to read the whole story! The entire thing was voluntary.....and based on a federal study. People just needed to say no and request to leave.

The police were there directing the traffic, not the ones asking the questions or doing the testing as it was a Federal Study.

In the last study in Fort Worth, participants were paid $10 to $50...

Obviously it was an "inconvenience" to people being pulled over in the first place, but no one was "forced" to give breath, saliva or even blood in the study.

So, I just ask that people read the whole thing before making a judgment on it as the "headline" from certain news organizations are meant to scare folks!

*Just wanted to edit that I was going over the highlights of the article as we've had quite a few folks who can't get to certain links lately so I didn't want anyone to just see the headline and maybe get the wrong idea.

And I wanted to say that I didn't mean that you were trying to scare us Diane, sorry about that....I will edit my post as it may come across that way...Many news organizations will use "catchy" titles and this one makes it sound like they were "forced" to do the swab part.....

Yes you made one point that I was thinking when I read this article..

I am much more alert & responsive when I take my meds.. but I think only others in chronic pain will understand that.
No matter who was at fault in an accident, anyone on prescribed meds ? Might ? Would? Could? Be blamed..

Thnx snowbunnny - I did NOT like the title of the article but wanted to share the contents. I am concerned about the negative comments re:pain meds that I read (& hear personally) & had heard about a previous, similar data gathering incident in another state. I know no one personally who has been involved but read that people 'felt pressured' to participate. Do not know if that is true though.

Conspiracy believers discuss online the dangers of gov having someone's dna.. I dunno about that but this data gathering is NOT anonymous: if drivers license info is not looked at, car license is still available.

Until I do something wrong isn't what I put in my body suppose to be between my doctor, my insurance company, my attorney & the thousands of people who have access to that info (little sarcasm there - I hate all that access PLUS hate it when I go to open workman comp hearings & have my private business discussed !!!)

Now that I am aware of the data gathering I feel I am prepared to make a decision if I am ever in that situation - THAT is the reason I shared this article .. so others can be prepared too.
