One word sums up my new year, my weekend and my Monday... SNOW! LoL

We got 8 inches from January 1-3 and then it stated again yesterday to dump another nine inches on us. The kids are out of school at least till Wednesday (after being out the last two weeks for winter break) but I love having them home so it works well for me!

Pain wise I'm good. I saw my doctor last week and I told him about the ineffectiveness of the patches the pharmacy gave me last month and he changed my script to say Mylan brand only so I won't have to worry about those patches again!

I hope everyone is enjoying the new year and the snow, if you are in a part of the world that is getting dumped like we are. And if you are in snow... Please be careful. I pray you all have low pain days!

My THREE words to sum up everything right now, lol (I'm stealing your idea Linds) - BACK to SCHOOL!

After being out a routine for the past 2+ weeks -- it's good to get back to "normal" (whatever that is). I've only got two that actually "go to school" (one in elementary, one in college)...... the rest are here. But it's back to a routine, regardless.

Living in California - I know nothing of the kind of snow you all are having - but I've seen pictures on TV, from friends on FB and WOW. Yes - I agree - stay warm and stay SAFE!

Everything else is going along ok. Having some health struggles...... but that's just life....... pain is stable for now, so that's good.

I want to add to the SNOW!

We got hit with two snow storms back to back. This is when it's really a challenge living on top of a hill with a long driveway. Everything was shut down since New Years. It's almost like we're getting all of our yearly snow in one fell swoop?

I love snow and cold, but I did have one (only one) mishap. Taking the doggie out potty 2 days ago in the back yard, tripped. Again. Luckily for me there was so much snow it actually buffered my fall. Now, getting up? Ha. Good thing no one had a camera...

For a brief while we hit -7 degrees. Brrr.

I've been using this compounded cream for my back but I'm not sure it's working. Hard to tell. Like systemic meds, do topical meds take a while too? I've never used anything like this.

Same ole here.

Kids were supposed to go back to school last Thursday. But snow day last Thursday and Friday. And surprise guess what? LOL No school today because of freezing rain. Last two days the temps have been fairly decent back into the 30's thank goodness. We've been running around -20 around here the last week and due to drop back down again tomorrow. This is getting old. I told the kids that later this year their school field trips were going to be trips to the ocean and the 4th of July fireworks. They'll still be in school in July at this rate.

Hubby got up and yet once again shoveled off our roof yesterday. Trying to keep the ice dams from building and causing an issue. And I think we're due for more snow on Thursday. Oh happy happy joy. LOL

My topical cream works within 30-60 minutes, I never had a buildup time, it worked upon first application.

The compound is for pain and muscle spasms. It is a blend of:

Ketoprofen
Baclofen
Cyclobenzaprine (flexeril)
Lidocaine

Other than the ridiculous price the compounding pharmacy charges, I'm very happy with results.

I have a topical cream too (Similar to biofreeze) that my grandpa's OT gave me to see if it would help my pelvic pain... Of course it didn't but I had some back issues yesterday and that stuff worked super fast and it was amazing! So glad I have it!

Tina... My daughter was born in Fountain Valley! We lived there for five years and had to move back because of the cost of living but if I ever become rich or wealthy... I'm going back to Cali! LoL The weather is perfect!

Merrida, please be careful. Can you watch your doggy from the back door without going out or will he/she run away? Maximus goes to his potty area, does his business and then comes right back. I usually walk him but right now its too cold and there is too much snow! And tomorrow it will be -12, the high is -1. Brrrrrr

I could never let our doggie off a leash, even though we have a sizeable back yard. When he's slipped the lead (or rather, got distracted by a squirrel and skee-daddled so fast I couldn't grab him), he's gone! He stays very close to me if I keep the leash short.

He also has his "potty area" -- only one place he'll go, or else I wouldn't be walking up the hill. Even on a run he just sits there looking confused like, "Yeah, now what? You're supposed to come with me, right?"

He only leaves me side when he's not supposed to. Go figure.

When Hubby is home, he always takes him out. But given I'm home alone during the day, I have to find ways to make this work. It's not always like this, but all it takes is once, right?

Thanks for the info on the compounding creams btw. And yes, even with insurance covering it, my copay was astronomical. I'm just not sure I'm really finding that it's doing much. Then again, maybe I'm too distracted to notice?

All I can say is I am sooooooo soooooo glad that I moved from Illinois down here to Kentucky! We have barely a dusting of that nasty cold white stuff, and although the temp right now is just below zero, not quite one degree below, it is still a far cry better than what they are having in the town that I moved from! I have a friend that is up in Lafayette Indiana, and they have over 16 inches of that nasty white stuff and eleven below zero right now! No Thank YOU!!! My daughter that is a nurse at Mayo clinic has it even worse! Is it any wonder why I did not want to move up there??? LOL

This week I am to go to a new pain clinic to start the evaluation process of possibly getting a pain pump. I have mixed feeling about doing this, but something needs to be done. I also transferred my records down here to the VA, and they have me scheduled for a bunch of test, this month. They are checking some things out, that I have had problems with, and some doctors that run test on me have chose to ignore test results and follow up on them and even lied to me about it. Anyway I have this new VA doctor who seems to be extremely thorough and has some questions about some of the things going on.

Anyway that is all the news here, just trying to stay warm, and enjoying the blessings of moving to a slightly warmer less snowy area of the country.

Add freezing to misery. Tonight going to 10 below. Lumbar ablations starting to hurt again. It's now new deductible time again, and after Christmas and heating bills, I dread adding new expenses.

The good news: At least I had 6 months' relief and ablations can be done again. We had a little sunshine today which made up a bit for the cold. My new co-pay for "preferred" generics is $5 instead of last year's $10. I may be able to use my new brace after today's alteration that got it off my slipping ribs. I had fun with the grandkids today; they came after school for hot cocoa and cookies.

We have a blizzard warning along with a wind chill warning. It's 3 degrees with wind chill of -20. It's the first time we have had a blizzard in over a decade. Such is life in the Buffalo area. It's supposed to last throughout tomorrow into tomorrow night.

Needless to say, my back doesn't like it. I love snow, but this is really rough.

I hope everyone is having a low pain evening.

Got a little sick last week, but starting to fill better. For the first time in almost a year I had a headache free med check/refill! No problems at all refilling. Thank God for small miracles.

well was kind of a boring quiet weekend. didn't really do to much. actually it was a rather painful weekend. still dealing with this crazy nerve pain. has gotten progressily worse over the past couple days.
visited my pm today and going back tomorrow for a couple of tests so hopefully we can figure out whats going on. wish the best for everyone and may this week bering some much overdue pain relief. yeah

Week was good. Felt like I was finally getting into the swing of thongs pain wise. Patches were working only bedew break through meds once or twice a day, it was great!

Yesterday things took a turn though. :( lower back keeps freezing up preventing movement and hip and back pain increased. I had the bright idea to tough it out and go grocery shopping. By the time I got home, cold stuff in fridge and changed my son's diaper it was all I could do to hobble to bed to rest for a bit. My son is a sweetheart though! He came in and we played with legos on the bed together. :)

Heated up a quick dinner and then let him play. He's 2 and very into the "no" stage. Struggeling with how to discipline when I can barely move. Hard to do time out get down to his level ect... Any other mommie's have advice? I'm thankful for a sweet boy (most of the time lol) just need to stay consistent and it's hard on the high pain days.

Feeling down and frustrated about that and to be in so much pain again. Learning ti really appreciate the good days, and to remember them in the bad days. Gets hard "surfing the cp waves" sometimes. Thanks for letting me vent. Take care everyone!
