HI

It's been a really long time since I have been here. I use to come here all the time.I suffer from chronic pain and ddd and stomach problems lately I have been finding it so much harder to deal with it perhaps it's my age and that I have a lot of other things going on. I try to keep positive but it seems harder and harder to do. Some days the pain is so bad I just want to stay in bed and do nothing .But I make myself get up and try to push through it .

 I want to add that my parents who are 84 and 79 are not well my mom had a stroke about 4 years ago and has vascular dememta [sorry about spell] which has gotten much worse and my dad has copd and heart problems. i go there every day and do what i can. and i believe it's really taking a toll on me. some days i leave there in tears because of the pain im in and seeing them suffer breaks my heart. i guess im looking for some place to just be able to go and talk and not worry about being judge as some of my family members think i should do less and that way my dad will see he can't do it and have to put my mom in a nursing home. it's just so overwhelming at times. and i remember the days i use to come here and just be able to chat and people being so kind. and how it help me so much coming here.

  Well i think i have ramble on enough for now and i just want to say thanks in advance for having this forum to be able to come back to and hope i can chat and make some new friends. :-)

Hello TG & welcome back. I am so glad that you decided to come back & give things a try again.

It seems to me you have an awful lot on your plate. Caring for those elderly parents is a huge challenge. Couple that with your own health issues, no wonder some days you don't want to get out of bed. I don't suppose you have any other family members that are willing to step up to the plate & help you out with the parents? Another thought, is what about getting your mom's dr involved in getting a nurse out there a couple days a week to help with her. They can help with bathing & that sort of thing. Anyway, something you can talk to the dr about for her.

Welcome back........ glad you to see your return. :)

You've definitely got a lot going on....... and I can totally understand why you feel overwhelmed.......

Susie I do have family members but they believe my mom belongs in a nursing home at this point and if I do less my dad will realize it and so they go twice a week to go get her ready for bed and that's it .vna was coming in but they that ended due to health insurance policy they only come in for a certain amount of days and then insurance doesn't pay. I did find a girl that comes in 5 days a week and gets my mom wash and dresss and she is their for an hour and then they are on their own. so I often feel stuck in the middle.No one wants to see their parent in a nursing home .I worked as a cna for over 20 years. I know that everyone has problems worse then me and I don't mean to ramble. I just have days when I really have to search and gather all my engery to go over their and put away the pain face and put on a happy face as I don't want my dad to think he and my mom are a burden. Welcome back, sorry about all that your going through, maybe look at assisted care places for your Mom and Dad, as it might be something to consider...Many many prayers to you...Have you thought about counseling for yourself? I see a Pain Management psychologists and it does help, maybe something else for you to consider for now...Keep us posted on how your doing...again, so very sorry about what your going through...

I know how you feel. Both of my folks are elderly & adamant about staying at home. I work full time and take them to doc appts on my days off. My spouse was laid off 3 years ago which turned into a blessing in disguise as he goes over there when I can't. I'm an only child so it's tough. If u ever want to talk about your folks & situation let me know & I'll give u an email address. It helps to talk about it. Take care of yourself and hope things improve for you.

 Thank you chartreux not a bad idea going to talk with someone as it might help.I was going to a altz. support group and it did help a lot. But with my parents and my own health issues I had stop going. I think I will look into going back . We also had a small group of people who would get together for coffee and talk about our cp and other everyday things but we don't meet up to much now due to the cold weather as a lot of us hurt more in this weather hopefully we can get together soon as these things at least gave me some help just by talking. I thank you so much for the prayer's and taking the time to answer as it truly means a lot to know people reach out even though they have their own pain issues.

1 day at a time.Thank you for your .I thank you for your offer and would love to chat as you said it does help to talk. I can only guess how hard it is for you being the only one and like you said your spouse goes over which is a big help. As it is hard being an only child and trying to care fir them any time you want to talk I am here also .just let me know I will gladely give my email. Thank you again for your kind offer.
