Reply to your comment about having the second MRI: I am an MRI/CT tech and can tell you that your best test for the rt side pain (if your choosing one of these) would be a CT. It would show if you have kidney stones or bowel obstruction. You could have an MRI if you insisted, but the Rad will probably recommend a CT, as MRI does not image the bowels as well as a CT if the issue is in that area. AND a CT only takes a few minutes. MRI relies on all anatomy staying completely still and takes images over time, so the peristalsis of the bowels causes the images to be blurry. Most MRI's take from 30 minutes to an hour on each body part or area. Lumbar spine takes about 25 to 45 minutes without contrast injection. And take pain med before your test!!
