Thoughts..

I hope they are found by someone who gets them back to you. Maybe they fell on the floor and rolled under something without anyone noticing them.

I realize this may seem like a stupid question, but here goes. Are you 100% positive that you took both bottles with you on your trip ? Could one of the bottles have gotten lost in the other things that were with it ? For example, I've spent hours looking for something & it somehow had rolled and gotten inside a shirt. And another time I looked & looked and it had gotten under the edge of the blanket on the bed.

Sorry, let me clarify mercy, I took just one bottle on my trip. I never take all my meds with me, but since I had split it up already I took the bottle with my current dosage with me. The bottle with my next part of the taper I left at home, which was 40 pills, 2 a day for 20 days. I assumed he will not replace, I was just wondering if I should even call it in. I figured the right thing to do is to at least let him know.

So right now I do have the 40 pills Mercy, which I can split in half and adjust my taper to speed it up I believe. Maybe he can give me a new schedule that will allow me to taper with what I have. By splitting them I can get 40 days, I need 35 days. I can do 2mg twice a day. I assume that should not impact me to much, or at least I he.

As I said, my saving grace was keeping the bottle of 40 pills at home.

I did not even think of that. I have just been focused on tracking my steps. Normally my pills are in our bag, but I keep them closer normally, in wives purse in case I need etc. I do not think they got packed, either way its my fault. Normally on top of keeping tabs. But I was trying to keep tabs on daughter. It was a long weekend, I barely slept and she was super exhausted from all the family stuff.

I will call and leave a message with his nurse and tell them what happened. I split mills, that will give me wig in morning and night. I will try to adjust when I take to. get more effectiveness if possible.

Yes that would not be good if some stranger was caught with a bottle of your pills and they called your doctor who prescribed them, and you had not reported them missing or stolen. Would not make you look good at all! So I would definitely call the prescribing Doctor ASAP! Like we always use to say in the military, and especially with the way things are right now, you just need to always ""CYA"", Because if you don't there will always be someone out there trying to get a piece of it! Then it is always you that is left with it hanging out to dry!

No reason to even take a chance of that happening!

Most of the time withdrawal occurs when you totally stop taking a medication. Taking 2 mg 2x a day should be enough to keep you out of withdrawal symptoms.

BTW: I take dialaudid for my pain. Was taking 4 mg up to 4a day but recently had is reduced to 2mg 4x a day due to having kidney issue. The 2mg dose does nothing for my pain. All it does is keep the withdrawal symptoms away.

I called and talked to a nurse or MA. I told her what happened. Right away she got kind of annoyed with me, but I told her would she rather me hide it or call and just let them know. I also told her that I was not looking for a refill as this was completely my fault. I feel bad enough as it is, and might have issues with pain down the road. She told me afterwards that I was not the first patient to have this happen. She said she would contact my PA and let him know and decide how to proceed. She said typically they do not give refills, but they might let me start the next phase of my taper early so I do not have to go down to 1/2 pills over the next 19 days.

I told her either way I understood as it was my fault that I lost track of the pill bottle. She told me it was smart to seperate them out the way I did.

Thanks for the input, I think calling was a good idea either way as it covers my own butt.

I am so sorry to hear UR story. It just seems as though we who live in chronic pain have a lot more to deal with than we should due to those who abuse the system.

I once read in a article that pain drugs are so overrated. That the pain is all in our heads. Well my dr said quite the opposite yet he cannot help me.
I don't know what that means for pain or for addiction I cannot move with out pain meds. Managing my pain issues is like juggling elephants. Yet it's not worth the hassle the med industry has put so many including myself thru. I had a incident with asking for 3 pills from my hip joint surgeon before surgery, my pain meds were out. I told him I do have a pain contract & to contact my PCP AND I WILL TOO, I see my PCP in 3 days in another town the other side of the city my surgeon was located another 45 min drive one way.

This was a few yrs ago. My contract said to notify them ... To make a long story short. I was subjected to xyz..&... & humiliating treatment, blackballed from all pain clinics. I was told they do not give pain meds for hip joint bone on born pain.. Tell that to someone who had the other hip done years before. I was on pain meds then, it's excruciating to move or sleep without them... My surgeon was called out....then while waiting months for hip joint replacement bone on bone & necrosis....I had to rent a wheel chair. Now after 6 months the hip joint is recalled...yikes...no thanks but thanks.. I will test for issues from the Stryker ABGll hip system until necessary no revision as they must break the femur bone to remove the old implant the bone has grown around. The new replacement parts are much larger & my surgeon said due to my circumstances it may not be the best for me, as I could end up in a wheel chair for the rest of my days.

I am in pain constantly MRI.. nuclear cat scans & x- ray shows the damage from the new recalled hip joint. Yet they a forcing me to a redo rather than giving me a choice .... No pain meds are RX. That is how much pressure & havoc pain meds have created with my medical care.
Don't do surgery to replace the recalled hip then just suffer.

I find the whole thing no matter what the circumstances,has made us all feel dishonest with accusatory insinuations everywhere we turn. We constantly have to prove ourselves. It's finally come to this? In our days of pain where is the compassion?

I sincerely hope that UR situation with lost pills will come to a positive resolution.

I was at my in-laws, so I doubt they would. My brother and sister in law are on their own meds because they got in an accident.

I thought of that at first, but I cannot think of anyone. DOes not mean there is not something that me and my wife do not know abotu though.

I normally bag them up seperately, but I recently found out 2 of my employees were quitting. They got better offers some place else, so I got home from work on Friday really late. So instead of bagging them seperatly I grabbed all my bottles.

I had them up through Sunday, I know I try to keep them on me. So I am not sure if they did not get packed or worse case scenario they fell out of my pocket. I hope I had not grabbed them and put them in my coat pocket. I was so busy trying to get out there I cannot remember what happened.

The smart thing I did was sperating my doses. I think what I am going to do is seperate all my pills for my next script and in a container that I bring with me to work or out of town. That way my main bottle will still be at home.

Hi Sean! Just another suggestion.....whenever you put your pills anywhere but in the original bottle, be sure to have a duplicate label handy (pharmacist can print you one) or the paper that comes with your script, with your info on it. The pharmacy can also give you a second bottle w/label. People have been arrested...yes, arrested...for having their legitimately prescribed pills in a baggie or unlabeled bottle. Better safe than sorry!
