Well it's Monday again and going into the last week of April!! Seems the months flying by and Summer will soon be upon us.

Hopefully everyone had a good Easter and didn't overdo or over eat. I cooked but not a huge affair as in the past. My 30 year old daughter had an endoscopy last Monday and was diagnosed as having a hiatal hernia which tends to run in the family. She was put on a diet with lots of restrictions so I tried to not fill the table with tons of foods she would have to refuse!! Lol, stuff I shouldn't be eating either!

Otherwise sunrise service yesterday at 7 was awesome! Very windy, lots of blowing sand and very cold that time of morning. Great turnout and everyone huddled together under blankets making it a close service! 21 folks were baptized in that cold Atlantic ocean yesterday morning too! Great start to Easter day. Grandaughter excited after church to hunt Easter eggs with the neighbors.

My sympathy to those who have lost family members this week and those in the hospital. Update on Susie's brother, he has been moved from the Nursing home to a rehab facility where he will get more intensive physical therapy. He seems to be progressing well and she said he is actually walking some now. Hoping he continues to get better and gets home soon.

Sending everyone healing thoughts and wishes for a low pain week!!

Good morning. Easter was a beautiful day but I learned something about post-ACDF: do not wear high heels. My goodness; I've been feeling pretty good but one day of wearing heels and I feel as I did when I was first post-op. Ugh. Got a full week of pre-op stuff and rotory cuff repair surgery next Tuesday. Bits and pieces of me are wearing out.

Wishing everyone a better day from good feelings generated over the Easter/Passover holiday. I had calls and Facetime visits from my kids, made a special meal for hubby, had the nearby grandkids for a couple of hours doing a "make-your-own" design for dollar insulated mugs. I had filled the mugs with candy, of course.
I'm paying for the efforts today, but it's OK, still smiling.

Today starts a week of appointments. First is the optometrist to see if the cataracts are growing too fast to wait on surgery. They're in the middle of my vision, making reading difficult, but the replacements will give me worse vision. I use only the mildest readers now. Then there's the oncologist, cardiologist, ... No pain or rehab docs though, the ones I need. Stiffness from spasms and pain getting worse daily. Upping baclofen weekly but not doing anything yet.

Time is going by fast! It feels like so long since I have regularly participated here...and I will try to be better about that because I hope my experience can help someone else.

I am having surgery tomorrow. The surgery I had hoped to hold off fr another few years. But I can't do it anymore. The pain is impacting my quality of life too much. So i is time. Double disc cervical fusion - here I come!

Hey Sore2theCore Good Luck to you on your surgery tomorrow! I hope the fusion works out well for you! Just make sure you follow your surgeons post-op orders to the Tee, and don't over due anything no matter how well you feel! That is the thing that gets one into trouble, you have the surgery and then start feeling really good, and then you do something that maybe you shouldn't and things can go down hill really fast from there! Been there and done that! LOL Please keep us all informed of your progress!

As for me went to Easter Sunday mass, and then I had dinner at my nieces, and after dinner, my nephew and I , high jacked the two most comfortable recliners my niece had and promptly zonked out for an afternoon nap!

No test this week, hopefully will find out about getting the pain pump sometime in the first part of May.

Hope everyone here is doing well and finding some relief. I'm still around at times mostly reading some times in chat and I do frequent the hepatitis forum . Wishing everyone here some pain free days! Kay

Thank you White Beard! I have been down that road before (not with surgery, but just the back in general...always made myself worse!) I will keep thinking your words in my head...

IAmGrammy: When did you have your ACDF? Now that the day is looming I am growing more and more nervous. I have been keeping myself busy cooking food for the fam, trying to keep my mind off of it...oh well. I shouldn't be this nervous. 95% chance of improvement - well worth it.

Hello to all and happy Spring. The lovely weather sure feels good and finally all that snow is gone.
Went to the Easter Vigil Saturday evening and what a beautiful celebration it was.
Not much new at my end.
My mom is coming this week. She will be getting her left eye cataract surgery done next Monday. She had the right eye done last month and did really well.

I hope everyone had a good Easter. I went to my inlaws for dinner and it was nice. We had a good time.

Friday I finally go back to my pain doctor. We need to discuss my current options. I also haven't had a chance to discuss with him about my urine samples coming out negative when they shouldn't have. I did leave a message with his nurse on last Friday though when I had to go in for a surprise urine sample about the possibility of my gastric bypass affecting it. I don't know what's going to happen with this last urine test either since I had a uti and am on cipro when I gave it.

All these delicious talks of dinner! Sounds so inviting.

Roughly 15-16 days ago I started,-- day #1,-- of my hormone med and my PMD put me on morphine sulfate 20mg ER.

I've been having a bad reaction, and my deep down gut, my instinct, feels it is not the hormone pill. I take those in the morning, and frankly I haven't been having any problems.

My PMD will cite "myalgia" as a s/e of the hormone meds. This is different. This happened once before in my life a few years ago, a drug reaction causing what feels like sausage arms, pain, deep heavy pain in the arms, hands and fingers, and they go numb, even passively....then some numbness dissipates but this pain is 7/10, and I haven't used a number above 6 since I was in rehab post op.

It's why I'm up 2-3 times a night chasing Baba Ji down. It feels like tissue around my nerves is swollen, like sausage arms and fingers.

I've notified my oncologist, my PMD (who I'm still waiting to hear back from), my PCP, and even my neurosurgeon (collectively we're arranging an MRI of my cervical spine so I can r/o structural impingement, etc). I want them to know I'm covering all ground.

The MS ER I take at night, that's when this arm pain kicks in bad, straight through until afternoon when it settles down....my hormone pill I take in the morning, and to the best of my knowledge, I'm doing well.

Arms get hot, freezing, unbelievably painful, I'm almost in tears. Can't make the pain stop.
