I can't do this...in tears again

The pain !medications helping but only a little bit anytime I do anything I start hurting so bad in my back I cry! I don't know if I can do this BC if the pain med isn't helping it makes me feel screwed and hopeless!

Jennie you still seem to be putting all your hope into your meds!! And again, you have got to use and rely on more then that!! None of us are ever going to be prescribed enough meds to do away with our pain.

I hate that your hurting so much but you have to find relief in anyway you can and sometimes that may take one or two things, sometimes 5 or 6.

It might be helpful to try and take the least, absolute least amount of meds possible for a week or so(if not more).

I know this must sound like the most awful advice ever...but it could help reset your pain receptors and allow you to feel better relief once you starting taking your normal dose again.

During that time you can look at other way to improve the pain relief.

Have you used a tens unit?

Tiger balm rubs? Menthol rubs(like icyhot).

Heating pads, hot rice bags, ice bags.

teas.

I'm kinda shooting in the dark and some of my advice might seem, "DUH! YES!!" and I wish I could be of more use.

There is also this herb called Kratom. Some members are against the use of it, and I suggest doing your own research on it. But it could be useful. I'd also talk to your doctor about it.

It has some pain relieving properties AND it can help with opiate withdrawl and allow you to slowly come off your opiate and help your pain receptors(you'd also then might have to taper off Kratom). I STRONGLY suggest you do your due diligence with research/talking to your doctor. There are some reported deaths(most of which are with mixed drugs/kratom cut with harmful drugs) and some controversy with it's use.

So, to be clear...not suggesting you just go and try it...or use it in place of your current med usage.

Hey Jennie......that definitely sucks about not getting any relief. I agree with Vickie in that relying on the meds solely unfortunately isn't realistic. Hang in there!

Hi Jennie,
I am brand new here but empathize with you. I just joined so that I can make a more informed decision on how to handle things like you describe.
Please let us know how you are-- and what things you tried-- what worked, what didn't, etc..
I promise to do the same when I get the nerve to see a pain management doctor again.

Getting a little concerned.....haven't heard from you in a few days.....you ok?

When my back gets bad like that...sometimes the only thing I CAN do is cry. And sometimes that actually helps a little...just to relieve some of the stress and tension and built up frustration.

I use a heating pad, a tens unit...sometimes I even have my boyfriend just push his fists into my back or I take a tennis ball and lay on it...the pressure hurts...but it feels better too at the same time.

Its all about finding what works for you...as silly or nonsensical as it might be...

Its okay to cry and rant and feel sorry for yourself sometimes. As long as you pick yourself up and keep going when its over!
