Facial Pain

Hi folks

I'm brand new to this forum but wondered if anyone else has been suffering with a similar condition to me. For the last 8 years or so I have suffered from facial pain. It starts with a pain that runs right down my nose (really prominently), under my eyebrows, across my cheeks and generally across the front of my forehead. When my symptoms are bad, I also suffer from chronic fatigue and nausea. The fatigue and the facial pain are unquestionably linked. I have been told I have everything from chronic fatigue symdrome, to atypical facial pain, IBS and the likes. I am an otherwise fit and healthy 34 year old woman. It's now getting to the point where I am losing all hope of every finding a cure. I have tried every treatment offered to me so far: CBT, graded exercise, steroid nasal sprays, diets (Candida diet twice), medication - antidepressants which were prescribed as pain relief - with no lasting effect. It is very sporadic (often being worse during time of the month) and is absolutely soul destroying. If anybody could shed some light on this for me or let me know if there is anyone out there who has similar symptoms, I would be very grateful.

Hi Gracey & welcome to the chronic pain forum. I am glad that you found us but so sorry that you have to be here.

I am trying hard to remember if we have had any members in the past complaining about facial pain, such as what you are going through. Gracey, if you will use the search feature here at the forum & type in facial pain, I believe you may be able to pull up some posts on this. I am thinking we have had some people come through here with facial pain. At least you can read those posts to see what is there.

Anyway, I wanted to pop on & say hello & welcome aboard.

I suffer from chronic facial pain but mine is from repeated sinus surgeries and I now have Empty Nose Syndrome. I would definately suggest seeing an ENT since sinus pain can act like what you are describing.

For what it is worth I concur that a ENT is the person to see. If you are seeing one or have seen one then find another one. Your symptoms do sound like issues with your sinuses.
