Hi Seymour,
I know what you are going through. I still don't really have a definitive answer either (it's been 7 yrs for me). We know bits and pieces of what is going on. But how all these pieces fit together is the real question. One which I doubt I will ever have a real answer to. But I've learned to (mostly) accept that.
I wonder if a biopsy of your intestines, etc, might help. I can tell you that that would be a logical next step if you were a dog (yes, I'm in the veterinary field). Sometimes problems occur at the cellular (microscopic) level, yet no pathology is seen macroscopically. And thus there is no way to diagnose these conditions without doing histopathology. CT scans, MRI's and the like do provide a lot of information. But yet they also have a lot of limitations. They are a logical first place to start, but you may need to dig deeper still.
But unfortunately for everything that is known about
the human body/medicine, there is even more that is unknown. It is tough. But sometimes we just have to accept the fact that we may never have all the answers.
It is certainly possible that you won't ever have a real answer, and will just have to live with your symptoms (and hopefully find a doc willing to treat them). But until you have exhausted all options, you need to continue to be your own advocate. It is hard -- especially if you feel like people aren't taking you seriously -- but the only one who is truly going to fight for you is you!
So for now, I would encourage you not to give up. It can be easy for someone else to chock it all off to psychosomatic when no obvious answer can be found (I think may of us with difficult cases have had one or more person or doctor suggest this at some point). But YOU know YOUR body. And if your gut tells you that there is something wrong (pardon the pun), then there is probably something wrong. Even if all the tests are coming back normal.
Hang in there! I know it is difficult.
Skeye
