Been doing some thinking about
your problems and I am wondering if you have been tested for Crohn's disease?
Some of the syptoms include abdominal pain, diarrehea, reduced appetite and weight loss.

He has had one colonoscopy, he said they did not do biopsies, which he is having this repeated with biopsies. That is the gold standard when dxing crohns. I have never heard of one being done without the biopsies. I have crohns & always have had biopsies when doing the yearly scopes. UC can detected with the scope because of the presence of ulcers in the colon.

Hello Jim.
In my first colon they do not have biopsies for me because my mucosa was normal, I could not believe it. I think that Crohn can see macroscopically.
In my second colon, they will make me biopsies.
I am on budesonide right now with no relief (1 week).

I don't know anything about
testing for Crohn's. All I do know is that sometimes doctors can overlook something simply because they were not looking for it in the first place.

I believe there is a blood test for Crohn's as well. I had one, it was expensive, like $400 and my insurance didn't cover it. This was about
5 years ago, so I don't remember what it is. It may have been something experimental at the time. But if you have some time, try and Google it. I will do the same this evening, if I get a chance.

Its possible it was experimental. I do know if something is experimental insurance will not cover the cost. As of this date drs say the colonscopy is the gold standard to dx crohns or UC.
