pain wearing glasses

Sorry to read you are having problems. I really do not think that what you have going on is TMJ though. I am not a dr but have had TMJ for years now. Have you been to your dr about this? If you have not seen your dr then I would make an appt and get checked. Are the glasses something new or what?

I have some minor TMJ pain...and I could maybe see how glasses could aggravate it, maybe. But I am doubtful as well. There are many, many other actions that will aggravate MY Tmj.

Does the pain go away when the glasses are taken off?

Is there pain when eating/talking/yawning?

If yes to any and all...then maybe.

I'd schedule an appointment with the dentist/eye doctor to be sure...and the allergy recommended by Vickie is a great idea as well!

I talked to my doctor about the pain and he said to wear the glasses loose. He did not try to diagnose me. I don't have insurance to go somewhere else. He referred me to a neurologist for my daily headaches but the waiting list is 6 to 8 mos. I was going to ask the neurologist.
The dentist and eye doctor would not help me either.
I get headaches when I eat but no pain when I talk or yawn.
The pain where my eyeglasses sit on my face gets better after I take my glasses off. I never thought about allergies to the materials causing the pain.
A lot of times the pain will also occur in the temporal/side of head areas.
I was not sure if it was TMJ or another chronic pain disease could be causing it.
I am not sure why I get daily headaches. The CT scan showed a possible sinus problem in 1 sinus region.

I get something that sounds quite similar which often leads to me not wearing my glasses. But for me it's been that I'm hypersensitive,...whether it's a bobby pin clipped to my hair, getting my hair washed or brushed, like at a salon, anyone but me, I'd tear up just from the pain I felt.

With my glasses, it feels like even when they aren't, that they're squeezing the sides of my head. Where you adjust them at the nose, even if they aren't as snug as ideal, I will get a lot of pain at the bridge of my nose where the glasses rest, and due to the shape of my nose, I've found all my glasses will start to slide down my nose.

We've adjusted the clips and the "springs" at the edges, but it seems even the slightest touch causes me pain. As they rest above my ears, I'll end up rubbing them and fidget constantly.

Same thing with my Rx glasses and my sunglasses. I've seen many ophthalmologists and opticians over the decades....and I can't imagine they ALL couldn't figure this out.

But I will get headaches from wearing hats, headbands, barrettes, and even glasses. I think the next step is to really consider contact lenses.

I've had this hypersensitivity since I was a kid, so it may not be the same thing you're dealing with now, but if the pain is at all similar, I can sympathize greatly with you.
