I am VERY hurt with my PCP!

It can take a couple of weeks up to a few months to get into a pain clinic. Just depends on how busy they are.

One thing you should know about pain clinics is that there are 2 types out there. One will only do procedures. They will not RX pain meds at all. The other type will do everything.

I don't understand why I would have to take a urine test? Are they looking for illegal drugs? I don't do that. In fact, I never took anything but tylenol before the wreak. The narcotics don't make me high or nothing. Its like a tylenol since the wreak. Oh how I wished 2 tylenols would help me now........So sad. Get my stitches out tomorrow, so I will see my bone Dr. And tomorrow is my first councilor visit. And I'm gonna take the Tramadol tomorrow, but I am gonna call my Dr tom evening and tell them that they DONT work and I want an appointment with the Dr's assistant. I have been hurting so bad today, that I've cried. And I had to lay down on the couch again........Thanks for listening and giving me good advice. Ya'll don't know how much it means to me......

As far as getting an appointment scheduled, if you can't get in for a long time, ask if they have a cancellation list or something. No guarantee that will get you in sooner, but it's worth trying.

EVERYTHING is sooo complicated. From workers comp to getting meds that you truly need. I went off of them MYSELF to see if I could do without them, and I couldn't. Heading out to bone Dr. Will let ya'll know what HE says.

Tramadol is awfully mild for surgical pain. It's OK for fibro and a few chronic things. I wouldn't throw it out though, because it raises your serotonin level which improves mood.

In all honesty you are wasting your time with your PCP. I thought we had mentioned here at the forum that with the new rules & guidelines primary care physicians have pretty much stopped rxing narcotics to chronic pain patients. Now that you know that you will need them long term, your best bet is to get into a good pain mgt dr. You should know that any time a person takes a medication long term, whether it be narcotics or whatever they become tolerant to the medication. Then you are looking at either increasing the medication or having to change to something completely different. If you are interest in real pain mgt you need to be under the care of someone that specializes in pain and that is a pain mgt dr. I would ask my surgeon to make a referral because you already are having way too many unnecessary hoops to jump through with this primary care dr. It sounds like the dr believes the nurse or PA over you. I am willing to bet that every time you need a refill on the pain meds you are going to be put through a bunch of grief & you will be sitting high & dry for days at a time without any pain meds till they feel like you may need a pill or two. What a rotten way to live but you can do something about this.

Most drs will check the Prescription Monitoring Program in their state before prescribing pain meds, some states even required it. The dr or his designee will be able to see what pain meds you've gotten filled, who the dr was, when they were filled, what the directions were, how many tablets, if refills are allowed how many. Some PMP's even have how you paid for it. So not telling your dr could make him not trust you.

Jodi it is best not to try to hide getting medication for the reasons MG stated above, if caught then that would make you look bad not to mention that following you around & it could make things really difficult for you. Get your script I believe its from the PCP right, get it filled. Wait a few days then ask whichever dr that will make the referral for pain mgt. to do so. With WC being involved all of this will take time. I am sorry, but for a dr to tell a patient they have to work through the pain & to get a tube of BenGay, that is not acceptable in my book. That says he does not care if you have pain or not & he has no intention of helping you either, but you can change that situation. Being proactive & pushing the buttons is what a lot of do in order to get the care we need and thats ok. If we didn't do this we would not be where we are today.

You should contact the lady that has an atty & ask her questions about her atty such as does he get things done for her that need to be done, is she happy with what he has done for her & that sort of thing. If she says she is happy with him then call & make an appt to go in & see him. He should not charge you for an appt & go in & learn what your rights are under the WC laws in your state. If you have an adjuster that is not doing her job in a timely manner then you need someone in your corner that will get things done right. It is useless for you to sit & not get benefits that you are entitled to under the law but if you don't push the issue then you will be put on the back burner to sit & stew over over things. But, again only you can make this happen. Don' worry about some dr getting mad or hurting their feelings, this is your life not theirs. If they get mad then that tells me they are more worried about a dollar than the patient.

You are right, something needs to change. The ONLY time she has been to see me is when I first come home. I have asked her to let me speak to somebody else who is not so busy, and of course, she never replied to that one either.
They didn't pick my doctors. They were the ones who operated on me the day of the wreak. The back Dr already released me after 6 mos. AND he told me that it looked like I had a screw loose in my back but he would need a ct scan but he wasn't going to worry about it right now. I thought that was funny because my Mama's back Dr didn't release her till after a year. Well 2 days later I received a bill from his office for almost $19,000.00. He hadn't even been paid for my initial surgery or the office visits! So I got on the phone with wc and sent them the bill. So THAT'S why he released me so soon. I don't think that my bone Dr is for them. We were supposed to talk about if and when I could go back to work next month, but he's not even gone talk about it till I get the 3 orders for pt finished up. She hasn't been to any of my appointments, praise the LORD. Although I learned on here that I don't have to let her in the room. I am fixing to text her again and im gonna tell her that I'm gone text her every 30 min until she gives me an answer. The thing that I'm afraid of is I work for a department of the government, but I wouldn't be suing the government, it would only involve wc, wouldn't it?

You are wasting your time trying to contact her, all she is, is a go between. She cannot approve your PT, that comes from the insurance company. Again, you need to call your adjuster & forget about the nurse, she has no authority to make any decisions about your medical care. She cannot approve anything. At this point all you have is a claim with their insurance company & nothing more.

It is up to the treating physician to say when you are ready to be released to return to work. Your dr is the one that has to address work issues not the employer or that nurse. Your check should continue to come as long as the dr says you are unable to work. Who knows, the dr may give you a return to work later with restrictions. If the employer does not have work available that meet those restrictions then they have to continue to pay you a weekly check or however it is they are paying you.
