Good news to hear that eight months out it is a lot less severe. I have been watching YouTube post up videos of three level discectomy's. Everybody's pain level range varies, I watched that of a 28-year-old and it is taking her a couple of months to feel better.
How did my surgeon come up with two weeks no pain meds? (Rhetorical question)
Anyway to address the hard collar β surgeon wanted me to stop wearing it so that I would build up my neck muscles. I feel like it's a constant catch up work hard catch up and when I say catch up I mean deal with the pain.
Yesterday I had an appointment so DH drove me. ( I adore driving but won't in this pain, mobility issues and of course ON pain meds!)In the DC area you're talking about
a lot of traffic--- as in most metro areas I guess. 40 minute drive over lots of little bumps I was holding the oh s?%t bar cussing a bit and regretting not wearing my hard collar.
Today feels a bit like a bad pain day, not looking for a pity party or asking for any sympathy I'm just relating some pain information. I know people here can relate XO
So many things I would advise and do differently if I ever had to do this again. Live and learn huh?!
Currently looking for a very comfortable position to lay my neck my head and my back I am using heat pads. They said go ahead and use heat as much as I want or ice so I'm going with the heat today.
Thanks so much for the information on the brain zaps. Makes perfect sense to me.
I love the idea of keeping elbows down to the sides!!!
