Thundercloud,
I get the glazed over eyes bit a lot, I guess it's partly my fault because when I was first Dxed with cancer my jerk of an oncologist told me that I had 18 months to live. I was scared and I shared that news with a lot of my friends(at the time). When it turned out that he was wrong (I'm going on my 8th year now, YAY!!!) they all thought that I was crying wolf and most of them dropped me from their list of friends, more pity them. These people now give me the glazed over eye look as though it would have been more truthful if I was already dead.
I just do what you do, say I'm fine and get on with my business. I have made plenty of new friends through this disease that I really don't miss those fair weather folks a bit
