Sorry to go OT guys, so I'll make it brief.
I went to my (psycho) therapy appt this morning where there's very limited on-street only parking with those meters you have to locate, insert quarters for time intervals and then print and wait for the paper slip to slide out with a date and time allotment on it.
It's a long drive (for me) and when I found my spot (there's one handicapped spot within a 2+ block radius and not much in the way of even regular parking spots)....I placed my printed slip on the dash and I had to hit the little girls room so badly that I made a mad dash into the facility (the little girls room is, of course, on the complete opposite side of the front door).
In all this I forgot to hang my placard from the rearview mirror. It was clipped to my visor but not hanging. So I do legitimately have the placard, and until I get the one for my actual license plate, it's what I got.
I returned from therapy to find I received a $250 fine/ticket.
So my question is: Is the fact that I legitimately have a registered placard designated for my particular car....is this something I can call the town about and try to negotiate?
Or is it just that I am out of luck because regardless of the state of my bladder emergency, my failure to hang it from the mirror is simply an inexcusable problem? I'll tell you this, I cannot come up with $250.00 in the TEN DAYS they're demanding payment, so regardless, I'm up that proverbial creek.
Sorry again to go OT you guys, I know it's frowned upon. But I've never had this experience with re to my placard before and I'm wondering if any other CP'ers may have run into this?? I can take the criticism either way.
