Hope when the UTI goes away, so does the nausea!!
If it doesn't, I have a few things to suggest....or agree with. Definitely take the nausea meds before you need them. It's like pain meds in that way, much easier to get control over a symptom if you take the med before the symptom gets really bad. I take Zofran 8mg, 3 times a day right now. It does help, but still not too great. I have found a couple of foods that work pretty well for me: mashed potatoes (I do the instant kind cuz they're really fast/easy to prepare, and are extremely bland, I would recommend saltines (I can't eat them, had oral surgery several days ago, chewing is rough), for sure King's Hawaiin roles, very soft, tiny bit sweet, and in my experience, easy on the gut. Then, as per my dietician, I make every effort to drink 1 bottle of Ensure a day. They are small, the colder the better, and have quite a few vitamins and minerals and other nutrients that the other foods pretty much have none of! You can get the generic ones and save a few bucks. I stick with the Ensure brand (or it's generic) though because it is not a milk based product. Can't remember if that means no milk at all, but at least much less than other brands. Don't know about you, but milk is awful on my gut. I tend to do a few sips here and there over the course of the day. Not too bad.
Obviously, not a "diet" you can do long-term, just not enough nutrition in it, but for a couple weeks or whatever, it won't kill you, and will help to get some calories in you. One of my other docs recommended trying candied ginger, she said she even uses it when she does a lot of traveling, and it does help a bit to settle things down. And lastly, of course, hydrate. If you don't like water, what about adding a little flavor to it--just watch out for adding sugar or caffeine.
In any event, I hope you feel better after the UTI goes away and that you do not need any of this other advice.
Good luck!!
