Does anyone have experience with cortisone shots?

Are you afraid of potential pain when they give you the shot, or that it won't work or both? It's actually such a quick an routine thing these doctors do. If your doctor suggested it, then make an appointment and get it done. Unless you are super needle-phobic, then why put yourself through the stress. Keep in mind these shots don't actually fix the problem forever.

I had one doctor use an ultra sound to guide him for the injection, another just did it based off experience.

It's not a huge undertaking and they are done numerous times a day in the office and guided by experience and feel as well as knowledge of anatomy. They do these in the lockeroom of pro ball teams.

You can make another appointment and get it done at the same time as there's no prep other then the med being drawn up and alcohol pad to clean the injection site.

Don't usually even require a band aid.

I am a little worried about the needle. I am also concerned about having a weird reaction or it causing extra knee problems. Like I said before though, my doctor thinks it could help calm whatever inflammation is going on and I could be better indefinitely... I just hope that is a possibility. I have been on anti-inflammatories, so you think those should do the trick if there was inflammation causing the pain.

No, oral anti-inflamms do not always do the trick. With an injection the medication goes directly to the area, there is a big difference. It is very unlikely an injection could cause extra problems otherwise drs would not be allowed to do the injections. There is a very good possibility of the cortisone taking care of the inflammation & you never having any further issues with it. I believe that was the point the dr was trying to make with you.

Good luck, the injection is just that an injection no big deal & I am terrified of needles, always have been.
