I've missed you all

Hi everyone... long time, no see. After my sister died earlier this year I kinda went through a mild depression. Right after she died my daughter broke her arm and had to have a metal rod put in her arm (it is removed now). Then my grandpa died and my uncle (mom's youngest brother) died and I really got low. I saw a counselor for a few sessions and I'm feeling better. I still can't believe my sister is gone and my heart aches everyday but I'm going to enjoy life and I know she wants that.

I did get a new job... just had my 90 day review and I like it much better than Chase. My pain is still about the same... I have ups and downs. The Fentanyl, Elavil and Oxycodone still seem to be my magic formula and I've become more active like I wanted to. I've lost about 15 pounds, it's not much but it'd a start. My daughter and I even completed a 5k walk for my daddy to support prostate cancer research. I had to stop about two thirds of the way but after about a half hour I was able to get up and complete the race.

I hope everyone here is doing well. I missed my HW family but I had a lot going on and really didn't go online much at all. I think about you guys often. It is hard being in constant pain (preaching to the choir) but it's even harder when you don't have a group of folks that can relate to what you are going through and helping with suggestions or letting you vent. I didn't realize how cathartic this board is until I wasn't on it anymore. So how are you all doing?

Thanks Chart! I never thought I could ever do something like that but we did it! It felt amazing! If it weren't for my pain management it never would have happened. I wish they'd focus on stories like that in the media. My friend commented just the other day at how amazing the change is from a couple years ago when I could rarely get out of bed.

Well good to see you!! Better to see that your on better footing with your life and sometimes it seems as the old folks use to say"you do have to crawl before you walk"

Not much different for me,same old same old. Lisa has been worried about you and asked often if any of us had heard from you. She I believe is away from home and the internet for a few days attending appointments back at her old Dr's but soon as she checks her forum I will make sure she she's you have surfaced.

Susie, I changed to a completely different career field. I work for Enterprise in Fleet management. The mortgage industry was too volatile and I wanted a change. This job focuses less on production and uses more of my analytical abilities. My manager is a smart cookie and he's been there for 18 years and he has remarked that he's never had an assistant that is as capable as I am (That's a huge compliment).

Iva's (my daughter) arm will never be "fixed" because of a mistake made at the first hospital we went to but she had a great surgeon and only suffered slight loss in her range of motion. She's still going to PT and will most likely have arthritis when she gets older since she broke the growth plate off of her radius in her right arm but it could have been a lot worse. We are counting our lucky stars that I got her to the children's hospital where they knew what to do instead of going where the hospital referred us.

Oh and we found a home!! The other one just wasn't for us. They kept pushing back the completion date and it was a big headache. We found a great two level with four bedrooms and no basement (I didn't want a basement because of energy costs). The new place is better than any house I could have imagined. Things did definitely happen for a reason in our case. I'm in a much better place emotionally than I was the last time I spoke with you all.

Hey Merrida!! So proud of you for becoming a mod... you offered such great advice to all of us here. Becoming a mod seems like a natural step for you. How are you?

Right after I posted tragedy struck again and my dad was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer and he's my best friend and he's been my only parent since I was 9. After my sister died (his only other child) I felt like it was me and him... depending on treatment it feels like it will be just me now. Obviously my depression came back with a vengeance and I had to stay a few nights in the hospital here. They are hoping that Lupron will give him five more years and I am considering going back to Florida to be closer to him and make a lifetime of memories in whatever time we have left. I know life for a cp'er isn't easy in FL but I can't imagine not being there with him. My son graduates this year so if we go it wouldn't be until June.

How are you guys? Is this thread too old to bump, Vicki?

Hello ER & welcome back. I sure am sorry to read what has taken place with you. You are the first person I have read about that has tried this for facial pain. I sure wish it would have worked. I hope you will keep us posted. Yes, we do have a few more new members.

I lost my mom about 2 years ago and I miss her so much, I talked to her everyday and we were so close. She never got to meet my 2 youngest daughters in this life..I'm sure she looks over us. They OP..you should read -Sylvia Browne book- The afterlife..I think it's called. It's a good read for sure. For all of us who have lost a loved one..sorry for your loss and know they are looking after you and will greet u in the afterlife.
