Lower back pain

Ugh, that stinks!!!! Ice? Heat? A good cushion to sit on? I've been in that situation ... an 8 hour meeting. I have to get up and move around A LOT.

I somehow managed to survive this, athough I was at the verge of crying of the pain.
Which everyone noticed too....
What can I do, I can't this anymore. Today I'm still in pain, and it's rediating to my hip, which rediated to my thigh. At least today I managed to smile and laugh a little

this is actually the first I hear of this thing - inversion table - and I have no idea what it's for.
I've just read a little about it, it sounds kind of crazy to me :) No way I'm doing that....

My back pain is a muscle pain. I have exercise I'm supposed to do, I'm not so sure if helping me or not yet. I wonder if I could get rid of this back pain or will I be stuck with it from now on, like all my other pains :(
I don't know how this happened to me, if maybe I knew how this happaned, maybe Id know what the right thing to do next....

Ice is the best. Also, do you have a TENS unit? When my back flares up the TENS unit really helps. I have bad low back and a failed L5/S1 surgery so still get sciatica bad down left leg and now also down right one too. You can wear the TENS under your clothes to work and turn it on during the day. Get a cheap one off the internet. They are all pretty much the same. As for inversion tables, I know people who swear by them but every doctor and PT I have ever talked to says to stay away from them. Perhaps you can try one before buying one. But you can do your own traction on low back by laying on the floor and putting your lower legs up on couch or chair, then pull your butt away from the couch enough to feel a light stretch (but keep it on floor flat). And just lay there and relax for a bit. You can do this with ice too. It takes all the pressure off your back. Anti-inflammatory meds help too.
