Hi. I've posted before but awhile back. I have pudendal nerve entrapment and had surgery in Houston in 2003. I got about 30% relief? I have perineal pain, posterior thigh pain, ischial tuberosity pain (which is the worst) and gluteal pain, all lt. sided. My bladder is a problem and I was dx'd with Interstitial Cystitis prior to this nightmare.
I developed IBS over 4 yrs ago so that, too is a problem. HUGE PROBLEM! Mainly constipation which the docs feel is probably pudendal nerve related. Pelvic floor dysfunction? Obstructed defecation? All kinds of names given to it. I have a problem with meds since almost everything irritates my bladder and now narcotics cause more constipation. 2 years ago I also had a 2 level cervical fusion for 2 ruptured discs which have given me no problems. With the exception of positional sleeping.
I am having an Intrathecal pump trial on Monday. I did have to have the psych eval which was a 2 part process. They say to make sure you are a good candidate and have the right expectation. A 50% reduction in pain is considered a success. I, for one will take 50%. I cannot sit without extreme discomfort which limits one incredibly. Sorry this is so long!
I do have a question for those who have the IT pump. Are you working and what limitations do you have? I work 24 hrs a week and have a very physical job. How long was your recovery? And is there anyone on here that has had it done for pelvic pain? Or has it affected anyone's bowel or bladder\PFD issues? I've done a ton of research and have not
Had consistent answers so if there's anyone here with any insight for me, I would appreciate it. I am very anxious about the implant and my reaction to morphine. Kara
