Have you tried a google search, surgery may be needed depending on how painful it is... I was diagnosised with a hernia a few years ago pm was going to refer me to a surgeon but never did and it really has not bothered me for awhile, fingers crossed...talk to your pcp(primary doctor) for the best info and try not to over do your google search into going into a panic mode either...maybe journel your symptoms and start at that....

You might get more results with:
"Hiatal Hernia"
It is a fairly common condition and there are clinics that specialize in hernia surgeries.
See, for example:

Hi!
Come on over to the GERD forum where there are loads of patients with these hernias. I think there's information in the locked threads at the top of the forum column. There are many threads in the archives - just put the words in the search box at the top of the page.
As long as the HH is not too large, most people live just fine, often even not knowing they've got it.
Your gastroenterologist is the one to see about
HH. He sees them every day.

Hi i am going to see a gastroenterologist next week, however my concerns are that hernias are quite often missed via an endoscopy, can i request a barium test as i've read that there moe effective.I don't get reflux or a burning from indigestion even though i'm on Lansparole and have been for a yr.The excruiating pain has been there for at least 2 or more yrs but because i had a disc removal in 2011 i thought it was to do with that, now i'm.confused as i not only have another disc herneation but have been on Laxido a laxative as they say i have blockages. It creates more pain when i have B.M also my stomach extends to the size of a football.Don't get the pain of trapped wind just a strangulation, tightness under ribcage all the time only subsides when i lay on my side to sleep.Help!!

Make a list of our symptoms and ask if your doctor next week which tests is the better tests for hernias and make your concerns known and explain that this has been going on for a few years now and that you want help.... If you don't get the help you need from this doctor then find another specialists until you can get help and journel everything and take that with you...

Hi Chartreux
Thanx for yr reply, i have my symptom's embedded in my brain, ha ha! No i'm not laughing wish i could.I have to give this guy the benefit of the doubt as this is the first time i have seen anyone who deal's with gasro, well i did maybe 8mth's ago, however they kind of convinced me of a blockage and i just put up with it.Well the pain has not gone away.Although i have mentioned hernia it seem's to be the only logical explaination maybe an ulcer but i've done all that elemination of food's.Can't really go in and tell him how to suck egg's though.lols. I have already made enquires to a London hospital for a referral if i get negative result's.That may seem to some to be a good thing but hey i need result's.Too long with pretty rubbish quality of life.Live alone so when yr in pain and keep having to fight yr corner it's to say the least a pain not in the stomach but elsewhere.
