Hey Wx2...So glad your surgery is now behind you. Give yourself time to heal before you start to stress about
"next time". We've discussed this at length on several occasions. I am rather shocked that the ovaries were left in place, as the estrogen they produce feeds the beast. There is no one size fits all treatment for this IMO terminal (to the quality of life) disease. I am 21 years post Hyst/Ooph/BiSalp followed by Lupron, and 7 years of Magace, which is a tumor suppressing steroid. So...IME, a definitive YES it will grow back. Right now as I type, my belly which is normally flat, is distended and bloated like I am with child. My left side pulsates in pain, as the crimped colon agonizes to move my bowels. When the bowel is full, my ability to urinate is impeded. I have blood filled tumors along my spine...MRI confirms...I think it's the Endo attaching itself to my spine, causing even more spinal pain. And so it goes.
There are (unfortunately) many, many women who are suffering with this disease tonight. Most of them are not being treated with any respect or dignity, instead being told their pain is in their head. Those that do get a Dx are often led down the path of Lupron (evil) and repeated laparoscopies. Each procedure reveals more disease or adhesions than the one before. It's a vicious cycle...I'm so sorry you are here.
I was hoping that, with all of the problems you've had, the surgeon would totally remove EVERYTHING now, to prevent further surgeries. Of course, that's still NO guarantee...as nothing cures this evil disease. It's a death sentence with no hope of death.
No point in obssessing at this point. Perhaps you'll be one of the few who gets relief. I certainly hope so. But in my life, HOPE is not a plan.
Hugs~~Dixie
